The life history, external characters of the adult, male and female genitalia, final instar larva, and pupa are described and illustrated. This moth species is widely distributed in the páramo. Larvae cause damage in meristem leaves of frailejones (Espeletia spp., Asteraceae). Identification and continuing studies of this moth are important to determine its potential role in the reported death of numerous frailejones in the area. The hosts, Espeletia grandiflora and E. uribei are some of the keystone species of the páramo ecosytem. Resumen - Se describe Oidaematophorus espeletiae, sp. nov del páramo de Chingaza, Colombia. Se describen e ilustran la historia de vida, caracteres externos del adulto, genitalia de macho y hembra, último instar larval, y pupa. Esta polilla se encuentra ampliamente distribuida en el páramo. Las larvas ocasionan daños en las hojas del meristemo de los frailejones (Espeletia spp., Asteraceae). -

Larvae induce formation of stem galls on Siam Weed, Chromolaena odorata (L.) R.M.King & H. Rob., and feed and pupate within these galls. This neotropical species was discovered in South Florida in 1993 and has since been exported for biological control studies. The identity of the species is established in this paper by comparison of reared specimens with images of the holotype from Panama. The female genitalia are described and illustrated for the first time. Zuständige Mitarbeiterin: Dr. Anne Wilstermann Anlass: Vorkommen an einer Sendung Lymnophila aromatica aus Laos in das Bundesland Berlin Express-Risikoanalyse (PRA) Stenoptilodes taprobanes Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875 Phytosanitäres Risiko für DE hoch mittel niedrig Phytosanitäres Risiko für EU-MS hoch mittel niedrig Sicherheit der Einschätzung hoch mittel niedrig Fazit Die vor allem in tropischen Regionen vorkommende Motte Stenoptilodes taprobanes kommt in Deutschland nach bisherigen Erkenntnissen noch nicht vor. In der EU wurde die Art bereits in Bulgarien, Spanien, Portugal, Italien, Frankreich, Griechenland, Finnland und auf Malta nachgewiesen. Die Motte ist weder in den Anhängen der VO (EU) 2019/2072 noch bei der EPPO gelistet. Die Larven der Motte sind sehr polyphag und fressen an einer Vielzahl von Pflanzenarten und Familien, die in Deutschland und der EU sowohl im Freiland als auch im geschützten Anbau verbreitet sind. Es sind allerdings keine Schadereignisse durch S. taprobanes bekannt. Es ist anzunehmen, dass sich S. taprobanes aufgrund der Klimabedingungen in Deutschland im Freiland nicht ansiedeln kann. Eine Ansiedlung der Art in südeuropäischen EU-Mitgliedstaaten ist bereits erfolgt. Im geschützten Anbau ist eine Ansiedlung überall möglich. Wegen seines geringen Schadpotenzials stellt S. taprobanes kein phytosanitäres Risiko für Deutschland und andere EU- Mitgliedstaaten dar. Stenoptilodes taprobanes wird daher nicht als Quarantäneschadorganismus eingestuft, Artikel 29 der VO (EU) 2016/2031 ist demnach nicht anzuwenden. HABECK1, AND BERNARD LANDRY2 'Department of Entomology and Nematology, IFAS, University of Florida, Gainesville FL 32611, USA; and 2Biological Research Division, CLBRR, Neatby Bldg., CEF, Agriculture Canada, Ottawa, Ontario K1A OC6, Canada ABSTRACT.- Last instar larvae and pupae are described for three plume moths, Exelastis cervinicolor, E. rhynchosiae, and E. pumilio. A key to the known larvae of this legume-feeding genus is given for Florida. The new combination Exelastis rhynchosiae, formerly Stenoptilia, is presented. Comparisons of the immature and adult characters of the three species are discussed to support the new combination. Fourteen new species are described, 4 species are recorded for the first time from Japan and 3 new synonyms are proposed. The larvae and pupae of 20 species belong ing to 13 and 12 genera respectively are described as well as the biological notes of them. Eleven species are injurious to the useful plants. Forty-two host plants including those after the previous records are listed. Keys to subfamilies, genera and species for adults are given. Preliminary keys to subfamilies for both the larvae and pupae, those to genera of 2 sub families for larvae and to genera of 1 subfamily for pupae are also given. The habitus and genitalia are illustrated for the twelve species of Pterophoridae known from the Galápagos Islands (Ecuador). The status of one species is discussed, as it may be the unknown female of Postplatyptilia minima spec. nov. Five species are described as new: Postplatyptilia huigraica, P. mini- ma, Platyptilia nigroapicalis, Oidaematophorus cristobalis and O. devriesi.
