Greater Chimgan (3,309m) has been known to mountaineers since the beginning of the 20th century. You can experience of rock climbing, hiking and mountaineering Chimgan Highlands caters many opportunities. Chimgan Highlands have been a host for many other outdoor activities such as hang gliding, skiing, snowboarding and horseback riding. Local Kebabs with Vodka on your own cost at your free time. Lake Charvak is the uppermost of the several reservoirs made on the Chirchiq River. Downstream, there are Khodzhikent Reservoir and Gazalkent Reservoir, which have a much smaller area. Lake Charvak is a popular resort in Tashkent region and thousands of holiday makers from all over Uzbekistan and neighboring countries visit the reservoir. Samarkand -also known as Samarqand and Markanda, is a city in southeastern Uzbekistan and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia. Modern Samarkand is divided into two parts: the old city, and the new city, which was developed during the days of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. Upon arrival we explore Samarkand city starting with Registan Square - The Registan was the heart of the ancient city of Samarkand of the Timurid Empire, now in Uzbekistan. The Registan and its three madrasahs. In the 15th century it was one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world, Rukhabad Mausoleum - The mausoleum has three entrances from north, west and south. The interior decoration of the mausoleum is also very modest. There are simple tombstones of Sagaradzhi, his wife-Princess and 9 children. In addition, modern Alay Bazaar is known for its two-story complex of jewelry, where you can buy silver and gold. Eastern bazaars are not just the markets, Bazaar is an integral part of Eastern culture and TSUM Mega Mall - is the main department store in Tashkent; it is located just across the street from the Alisher Navoi Opera Theatre. Here you can find a good selection of silk and souvenirs such as magnets, ceramic miniatures and many other lovely things that will remind you of your trip to the hospitable city of Tashkent.     UZBEKISTAN In-Depth Review of the Investment Climate and Market Structure in the Energy Sector 2005 Energy Charter Secretariat ENERGY CHARTER SUMMARY AND MAIN FINDINGS OF THE SECRETARIAT Uzbekistan, a Central Asian country located at the ancient Silk Road, is rich in hydrocarbon resources, especially natural gas. Proved gas reserves amount to about 1.85 trillion cubic meters, exceeding the confirmed oil reserves of about 600 million barrels nearly 20-fold on energy equivalent basis. Most of the existing oil and gas fields are in the Bukhara-Kiva region which accounts for approximately 70 percent of Uzbekistan’s oil production. The second largest concentration of oil fields is in the Fergana region. Natural gas comes mainly from the Amudarya basin and the Murabek area in the southwest of Uzbekistan, making up almost 95 percent of total gas production. The endowment with oil and gas offers considerable potential for further economic development of Uzbekistan. Its recent economic performance has been promising, with a GDP growth of above 7 percent in 2004, and an outlook for continuous robust growth in 2005 and beyond. To what extent it can be realised depends crucially on how the government will pursue its policies concerning investment liberalisation and market restructuring, including privatisation, in the energy sector. While the Uzbek authorities recognize the critical role that foreign investment plays for the exploitation of the hydrocarbon resources and the overhaul of the existing energy infrastructure progress has been relatively slow concerning the establishment of a favourable investment climate for many years. However, the Government has recently adopted a far more positive stance that has already brought about tangible results.
