While families continue to choose distance learning, our teachers are doing a remarkable job balancing a blended model of in-person and remote instruction, simultaneously. For children who return to their physical campuses, it is essential to remember that facial coverings continue to be required until further notice. The facial covering protocol, as outlined in the District’s COVID-19 Student and Employee policies, is in place to help ensure the safety of students and staff. It is vital that both parents and students remain fully aware of the latest changes to important District policies and guiding procedures. ● According to updated Student Policy 5.326, students must “not come to school if ill including, but not limited to: symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, diarrhea, severe headache, body ache, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of appetite and sense of smell, and other flu-like symptoms.” Refer to the Covid-19 Guiding Document (pages 12 and/or page 18) for additional information. Protocol for COVID Positive Students, please refer to page 23. ● With regards to updated Visitor Policy 2.065, and implementing protocols in order to keep our campuses safe, it is important for visitors to understand “access to all District property will be limited to current students, current staff, pre-approved parents/guardians/guests, vendors and contractors, and invited guests with principal or designee approval. Visitors must take their temperature prior to arriving at District property and the visitor shall not report to a District Property if they have a temperature of 100.4 or higher.” According to the policy, “visitors shall not report to District Property while using fever-reducing medications.” ● Please be reminded that students are expected to follow the District’s Student Code Of Conduct to create a safe learning environment for all students in Distance Learning and in person. Parents, take the opportunity to speak with your child about protecting, and not sharing, their confidential login information. ● Making Your Choice 2.0 is the School District of Palm Beach County’s consistency plan for each semester to ascertain the students who intend to switch from Virtual to Brick and Mortar or Brick and Mortar to Virtual. For more information please visit the Make Your Choice page. ( click on for link ) Frequently asked questions LINK Click on each question for a link to provide the answer for the question. Why are parents and guardians being asked to commit to distance learning or in-person instruction? What is the timeline for making my choice? How, specifically, do I make my choice? How long will my choice remain in place? What if I change my mind? If my child attends in-person instruction, and then tests positive for Covid-19, what is the process for notifying the school? If my child is registered for in-person instruction and must stay home due to Covid-19, will they be allowed to return to campus when their health improves? Once I make my choice, will my child still have the same teacher(s)? What happens if a child’s parent registers a choice for distance learning and the child shows up to school for in-person instruction on any given day? Will the student be turned away? If too many students sign up to return to in-person instruction, how will that be handled? Meaning, is there a capacity cut off? What happens to students in overflow? If a student attending in-person instruction lives in the same household as an individual who tests positive for Covid-19, will the student be able to attend classes virtually while self-quarantining without being counted as absent? If a student is in the same classroom as an individual who tests positive, but was not told to quarantine because they were seated six feet away from the positive case, will the student be permitted to self-quarantine, and take part in distance learning, in an abundance of caution without being counted as absent? In any of these scenarios, what is the protocol? Do I notify the principal, the teacher, or both? What is the metric the District is following? Have HVAC filters been upgraded? Transit Access Plan Executive Summary & General Recommendations 2019 1 Transit Access Plan Executive Summary Executive Summary The purpose of the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA)’s Transit Access Plan is to identify roadway modifications that improve pedestrian and bicycle safety and access to high ridership Palm Tran locations in Palm Beach County. In order to create a safe, efficient and connected transportation system, we must provide safe access to transit for users of all ages and abilities. Improving first and last mile connections to transit enables people of all ages and abilities to safely access destinations such as employment, education, medical facilities, and healthy foods. Creating a more walk and bicycle friendly environment can also encourage more walking, bicycling, and transit use as well as improve overall community health. The TPA initially identified 20 high ridership Palm Tran bus stops and narrowed them down to the following six (6) locations throughout the county with the most opportunity for safety improvements: 1. West Palm Beach: Palm Beach Lakes Blvd at N Congress Ave 2. Boynton Beach: Congress Ave at Old Boynton Rd 3. Belle Glade: SR-80 at Hooker Hwy 4. Boca Raton: Butts Rd at Town Center Rd 5. Riviera Beach: Military Trail at W Blue Heron Blvd 6. Delray Beach: Atlantic Ave at Military Trail An approximate radius of 1/2 mile for each identified high ridership location was used to conduct walking field audits with the participation of planners and engineers from the TPA, its consultant (CTS Engineering, Inc.), Palm Tran, roadway owner(s) and local municipality.

  • 3.0 Passenger Rail Services and Initiatives in Florida
Investment Element of the 2010 Florida Rail System Plan 3.0 Passenger Rail Services and Initiatives in Florida 3.1 Overview Although Florida’s total population shrunk by about 60,000 residents in 2009 – a first in over three decades according to state demographers – and overall population growth rates have declined three points to approximately 2 percent annually due in large part to the nationwide recession and declining housing market, the State is expected to continue to attract retirees and residents looking for warmer weather and low costs of living. State demographers at the University of Florida predict that once the recession ends, Florida can expect to grow as much as 200,000 people per year – fewer than the 300,000 a year the State averaged during the past three decades, but enough to lead most other states in net growth. By 2035, more than 25 million people will call Florida home, representing a 56 percent increase between 2000 and 2035.45 In absolute terms, Florida will add over 9 million people to its population between this time period. Furthermore, although much of Florida’s growth will be concentrated in urbanized areas, growth will occur across Florida’s regions and urbanized area boundaries will expand across county lines. Florida’s density per square mile was 344 according to the 2009 Census and was ranked the eighth densest state in the nation. Population growth, and the associated transportation demand, will place additional pressure on all aspects of the State’s transportation system. A growing population not only adds automobiles to roadways, but the increase in economic activity to support this population also will generate additional demands for freight movement.

  • Transportation Element
CITY OF BOCA RATON GOALS, OBJECTIVES AND POLICIES TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT The City of Boca Raton has embarked on a new path for transportation services and infrastructure that more fully links different transportation modes to each other, as well as with existing and planned land use patterns. Within the Comprehensive Plan, transportation is defined broadly and incorporates streets, automobiles, transit, cycling and walking. All these modes work together to create a transportation system that improves mobility for people and goods within and between the City’s five planning areas as well as the region. The use of different modes, and even the choice of multiple modes, will impact not only the character of the right-of-way, but also the means by which to measure the use and quality of the right-of- way. In addition to the classification system for level of service standards on its streets, the City is actively considering alternative standards to encourage enhanced multi-modal mobility. This Element contains goal statements for each mode of transportation, and includes policies for the coordination of the City with the other entities that supply transportation services, funding, and infrastructure to the City. These include Palm Tran, South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (Tri-Rail), the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Palm Beach County, the Boca Raton Airport Authority, and the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA). Additionally, the City will coordinate with Broward County Transit, the City of Delray Beach and the City of Deerfield Beach for greater regional connectivity. Element Goals, Objectives and Policies GOAL TRAN.1.0.0 It is the goal of the City of Boca Raton to provide a safe, efficient, convenient, and economical transportation circulation system, which offers sufficient choice, quality, and accessibility to connect people, goods, and services throughout the City and to the region.
