Toronto Blizzard…Developing a Better Human Being Through Soccer Helping High Performance Players Attain Scholarships/National Team/Pro ABOUT HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING FOR PLAYERS TAILORED TO OBTAINING SCHOLARSHIPS FROM D1 & D2 USA SCHOOLS & CDN UNIVERSITIES The Toronto Blizzard runs training programs that are directly tailored to US D1 & D2 schools as well as Canadian Universities and Colleges. We prepare players to be equal to &/or better than most ECNL Clubs. We run exhibition games and play 10-20, D1 schools annually. We train players at a higher intensity level than normal. Players learn a high level of tactical and physical awareness and are tested on a regular ongoing basis. Our program is specifically geared towards student athletes obtaining scholarship opportunities. VISION To provide every player in Ontario with a free education, be it in Canada or the USA via the most credible soccer programs. One built upon the expertise, passion and discipline of our founding members and operated under competent and caring leadership. HISTORY THE FATHER OF TFC Meet the Toronto Blizzard, the "father" of Toronto FC. The Forerunners to the Blizzard were the Toronto Metros who joined the NASL in 1971. The Toronto Blizzard were a professional soccer club based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that played in the North American Soccer League and rostered some of soccer's greatest players. From 1971 - 1975 the Toronto Metros played in the NASL out of Toronto Varsity Stadium. In 1975 the team was purchased for $250,000 by the Toronto Croatia of the National Soccer League (NSL), and the team became known as the Toronto Metros-Croatia. In the next season the club won the 1976 Soccer Bowl championship. Although a successful season they struggled financially. Then the Global Television Network purchased the corporation on February 1, 1979 for $2.6 million. Following the purchase, Toronto Croatia returned to the NSL as a separate club and the team was renamed the Toronto Blizzard. Under the new ownership, attendances doubled and from 1979 to 1983 and the Blizzard played home games at Exhibition Stadium before returning to Varsity Stadium for their final season in 1984. The team were the runners-up for the league championship in 1983, losing the Soccer Bowl to the Tulsa Roughnecks 2-0 in front of nearly 60, 000 people at Vancouver's BC Place Stadium. They were runners-up again in 1984 when they lost to the Chicago Sting two games to none in a best of three championship series. The club was coached in these final two years by Bobby Houghton, assisted by Dave Turner. The Blizzard qualified for the play-offs on two other occasions, in 1979 and 1982, losing in the first round on both those occasions. Prominent players included Clyde Best, Željko Bilecki, Jimmy Bone, Roberto Bettega, Drew Busby, David Byrne, Cliff Calvert, Tony Chursky, Pasquale De Luca, David Fairclough, Charlie Falzon, Colin Franks, George Gibbs, Jimmy Greenhoff, Steve Harris-Byrne, Graham Hatley, Paul Hammond, Paul James, Conny Karlsson, Victor Kodelja, Sam Lenarduzzi, Peter Lorimer, Ivan Lukacevic, Trevor McCallum, Colin Miller, Mike McLenaghen, Willie McVie, Alan Merrick, Charlie Mitchell, Juan Carlos Molina, Jan Möller, Francesco Morini, Jimmy Nicholl, Ace Ntsoelengoe, John Paskin, Rob Prentice, Randy Ragan, Neill Roberts, Malcolm Robertson, Peter Roe, Jomo Sono, Derek Spalding, Gordon Sweetzer, Blagoje Tamindžic, Jose Velasquez, Drago Vabec, and Bruce Wilson. Let's not forget the Metros greats like the Black Panther Portuguese footballer Eusebio, Croatian striker Ivan Lukacevic, Ivan Grnja, and Brazilian Ivair Ferreira to name a few. In 2010, the 1976 Soccer Bowl winning team was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame. Today the Toronto Blizzard organization is back once again like a Phoenix ready to rise from the ashes of the past to e reborn once again to greatness This time the first teams to be created are for the Women's game with plans for the men's side to follow suit shortly. The Toronto Blizzard Team will be looking to start play in the summer of 2017 in League One Ontario soccer. League One is the PRO-AM (Professional Amateur) development Soccer League of Ontario and is considered the official division 3 soccer in North America. History of True Sport In 2001, Canada’s Federal-Provincial/Territorial Ministers responsible for sport came together to bring ethics and respectful conduct back into the way Canadians play and compete. They believed that damaging practices—cheating, bullying, violence, aggressive parental behaviour, and even doping—were beginning to undermine the positive impact of community sport in Canada. The first step they took in turning back this negative tide was the signing of what is now known as the London Declaration, an unprecedented affirmation of positive sporting values and principles. The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport conducted a nationwide survey in 2002, which made clear the important role that sport plays in the lives of Canadians, as well as Canadians’ strong desire to uphold a model of sport that reflects and teaches positive values like fairness, inclusion, and excellence. In September of 2003, leading sports officials, sports champions, parents and kids from across Canada came together through a symposium entitled “The Sport We Want.” Several strong messages emerged from this gathering.

Frazer Submitted to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering on May 20, 2005 in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering ABSTRACT As existing open-air or fully enclosed stadia are reaching their life expectancies, cities are choosing to replace them with structures with moving roofs. This kind of facility provides protection from weather for spectators, a natural grass playing surface for players, and new sources of revenue for owners. The first retractable-roof stadium in North America, the Rogers Centre, has hosted numerous successful events but cost the city of Toronto over CA$500 million. Today, there are five retractable-roof stadia in use in America. Each has very different structural features designed to accommodate the conditions under which they are placed, and their individual costs reflect the sophistication of these features.

Approve in principle the recommended directions outlined in the Final Report – Phase 1 Stadium Analysis: Halifax Stadium – Business Plan (Attachment 2); 2. Direct staff to proceed to Phase 2 Stadium Analysis: Site Selection and Preliminary Design; and 3. Approve an increase to project CBX01363 in the amount of $275,000 (net HST included) for Phase 2, with funding from the Strategic Growth Reserve, Q126, as outlined in the Budget Implications section of this report. HRM Stadium Analysis Phase 1 Final Report - 2 - August 2, 2011 BACKGROUND Executive Summary On February 8, 2011, Regional Council directed staff to proceed with a process to determine whether or not there is viability for the development of a multi-use stadium in the municipality. The analysis would determine the business case for such a facility, along with an assessment of future opportunities, and comparisons of similar facilities. The potential multi-use facility would have a minimum seating capacity (including a mix of temporary and permanent seating) of 20,000 seats. Regional Council, also at that time, approved a citizen led Steering Committee to oversee and guide the project. The Steering Committee, populated with representatives as directed by Regional Council, has proceeded with their mandate and has submitted its reports and recommendations to Regional Council.

Debuting at their new home of Stewart Burnett Park, the Aurora men found themselves down early to Master's Futbol of Toronto Saturday night when a cross found the back of the net 14 minutes in. Karamvir Mehmi notched his first goal with the Aurora club just a few minutes later, though Aurora found themselves down 2 ? 1 heading into the half. With just twelve minutes to go before stoppage time, Morey Doner put home a pair of back-to-back goals to give Aurora its first lead of the game, though Masters found the 3 ? 3 equalizer before the final whistle. "It's a new field, out first game and I thought they put on a great performance," said Aurora head coach Derek O'Keeffe. "Unfortunate not to win, but credit to the team for getting a point in the first game. It was a good experience out and most of our players tonight are younger, and they held their own." O'Keeffe said he was ?satisfied? with his team's opening performance. "The way we approached the game in terms of our mindset, our attitude, our mentality, was second to none and I just think we need to keep that going and we can be a very competitive team this year." The men return to the pitch at University of Windsor Stadium on Sunday, before returning home to host the Vaughan Azzurri on May 13.
