AUDITIONS: Auditions for the Les Miserables will be Tuesdayand Wednesday,October 3 and 4 in the high school auditorium. You must pick one day to sign up for. Call backs (if necessary) are October 5 at 6:00 pm. All students will be cast in the show, so if you don't receive a call back it means we know what part you will have.

AUDITION TIMES: • Middle School Students 6:00pm- 7:30pm -you must stay for the entire 1 ½ hour time slot • High School Students 7:30pm - 9:00pm - you must stay for the entire 1 ½ hour time slot

In order to be assigned an audition time you, your parents must complete the packet and you will hand it in to Ms. Leight (high school students) and Ms. Rechak (middle school students) no later than 2:00pm on Monday, October 2, 2017. Please fill out the parent/student information and commitment section for ACTOR/ACTRESS.

MATERIALS: Materials for auditions are included in this packet. Please watch the video clip and listen and be able to sing the given songs. You do not need to memorize the music but you must be able to sing through the songs - we will not be teaching them to you. We will choose which songs we want to hear you sing based on your voice range test which will be done at auditions. Some songs may not be in your voice range but please do your best to learn them all so we can make sure we put you in the right part for you.

RehearsalSchedule

From October through December we will rehearse on Monday's and Thursday's from 5pm - 7pm. If we do not have school, we will not have rehearsal. I will let you know as soon as possible if we need to cancel a day or add additional time to a rehearsal.

Januarythrough February we are planning for rehearsals Monday through Thursday from Spm-7pm, however this may change depending how much we can get done from October to December. We may need to extend the rehearsal time to 8pm if needed.

We will not rehearse during vacations.

Please be aware that I may schedule some rehearsals for specific groups of students, so there may be days where your child will not need to come to rehea rsaIs. PARENTSKEEP THIS PAGE!

Rehearsal, Production, Time Commitment and

Show Content Information

• There will be a read through and meeting for all Cast on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the high school chorus room. There will be a mandatory student and parent meeting at 6:30 following the read through.

• Rehearsals will begin on Monday, October 16, in the HS auditorium.

• The shows are on Thursday, March 1, Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm.

• Parents are responsible for transportation to and from practices. Students must be picked up promptly at the end of rehearsal.

• Under no circumstances are students to stay on school property unsupervised between 2:18 and 5:00. We will not be providing supervision for your child during this time.

• Rehearsals are mandatory. This show takes a tremendous amount of work and your child will need to be there for the rehearsals. Your child may be dismissed from the play for missing rehearsals or poor behavior and participation. If you know that your child will be missing rehearsals on a weekly basis, this activity is not for them.

• Please be aware that although we are doing the school edition of "Les Miserables", there are some mature themes and language used in this version. To the best of our ability we will make sure students are in age appropriate scenes.

There is a tremendous cost to produce a musical. There is a $20 (cash) participation fee for all students participating in drama club. This money goes toward materials to create the set, costumes, musicians and picture board. We will collect this at the parent meeting. IMPORTANT:

For auditions students will need to be able to sing through the songs listed below. Sheet music to these songs are in the following pages of this packet. The link to a video of the school edition of Les Mis is listed below. I have also included the time in the video where you can find each particular song. We are asking you to know a few different songs so we can put you in the best role fpr your voice. You may not be asked to sing all the songs at the audition - we will decide what songs we want to hear from you on based on your voice range test which will also be done at the auditions. There are LOTSof parts and solos throughout this whole show as it is all singing ­ no speaking. You do not need to memorize the songs, but you must be able to sing them with confidence and along with piano accompaniment which will be provided at the audition. We are looking for students to be in character, project their voice and be able to sing on pitch.
