    Contact: John Golden Public Information Manager SEPTA Expands Weekend Maintenance & Cleaning Blitz Initiative Moves to Four New Stations During June PHILADELPHIA (June 3, 2021) – Following several successful station cleaning and maintenance blitzes in recent months, SEPTA will expand the initiative to four additional locations during each weekend in June. Work will start this weekend at the North Philadelphia Station on the Broad Street Line (BSL), then move to 46th Street, Tioga and 8th Street Stations on the Market-Frankford Line (MFL). For each blitz, stations will close at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday and reopen at 5 a.m. the following day. These early closures give crews a full eight hours between closing and the morning reopening to carry out work tasks. Efforts will focus on maintenance, including work on elevators, as well as painting, power washing, and installing enhanced lighting and new signage. Below are the scheduled days for work at each station: • North Philadelphia Station (BSL): June 4, 5, 6 (riders should use Allegheny or Susquehanna- Dauphin Stations for access to the Broad Street Line.) • 46th Street Station (MFL): June 11, 12, 13 • Tioga Station (MFL): June 18, 19, 20 • 8th Street Station (MFL): June 25, 26, 27 Previous weekend blitzes have been carried out at the 13th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line and the Snyder Station on the Broad Street Line. This initiative grew out of more expansive infrastructure, maintenance and cleaning efforts that started earlier this year on the Market-Frankford Line at the Somerset and Allegheny Stations. During the closures, customers can find alternate service at neighboring stations on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines, or on nearby bus routes.

    Contact: Andrew Busch Chief Press Officer SEPTA Moves Safety, Security & Infrastructure Blitz to Allegheny Station Station Open During Work; Early Closures April 23-25 for Intensive Cleaning & Repairs PHILADELPHIA (April 15, 2021) – SEPTA’s efforts to tackle critical safety, security and infrastructure needs along the Market-Frankford Line Stations are continuing with work at the Allegheny Station. This follows successful efforts to address similar needs at the nearby Somerset Station, and the implementation of a new security plan. Allegheny Station will remain open while work is performed, however, early closures are scheduled for three nights starting late next week. From Friday, April 23, through Sunday, April 25, the station will close each night at 8 p.m. and reopen for service at 5 a.m. the following day. This will give crews a full eight-hours between closing and the morning reopening for intensive cleaning efforts, as well as maintenance and repair work. Customers who would normally board or exit at Allegheny Station during these hours on April 23-25 should use Somerset or Tioga Stations. Free transfers to the Route 3 bus will be available to allow customers who normally board at Allegheny Station to access the Market-Frankford Line at either Somerset or Tioga stations. Elevators at Allegheny Station will close starting at 8 p.m. on April 23 and will remain out of service until repairs are completed. A timeline for repairs will then be developed, and a reopening date for the elevators will be announced as soon as details are available. Elevators will remain in service at neighboring Tioga and Somerset Stations, and SEPTA bus service is fully ADA accessible.

This document describes the service proposals suggested by the general public, government agencies, elected officials and Authority staff, and presents the technical and financial analyses that determine whether the proposals merit implementation. The Plan includes projects for City Transit and Suburban Transit. There are no proposals for Regional Rail. This year marks the 19th Annual Service Plan and its associated planning process. This and the previous efforts reflect SEPTA’s ongoing commitment to improve the performance and productivity of transit routes and regional rail lines through careful measurement of both ridership changes and operating cost based upon a numeric scoring methodology. This method, fully described for each proposal, includes measures for revenues, operating costs, and impacts to existing riders. Additionally, each proposal must meet minimum performance standards, adopted by the SEPTA Board, prior to review within the service plan process.
