Sv ir id o v received 24.II.2000 Summary: 630 species of the Noctuidae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 2 species [Mesapamea hedeni Graeser and Amphidrina amurensis Staudinger ) are noted from Europe for the first time and one more— Nycteola siculana Fuchs —from Russia. 3 species ( Catocala optata Godart , Helicoverpa obsoleta Fabricius , Pseudohadena minuta Pungeler ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. Biogeographic relict, extinction risk, global warming, species richness, sub-alpine prairies Abstract. During the last few decades the tree line has shifted upward on Mediterranean mountains. This has resulted in a decrease in the area of the sub-alpine prairie habitat and an increase in the threat to strictly orophilous moths that occur there. This also occurred on the Pollino Massif due to the increase in temperature and decrease in rainfall in Southern Italy. We found that a number of moths present in the alpine prairie at 2000 m appear to be absent from similar habitats at 1500–1700 m. Some of these species are thought to be at the lower latitude margin of their range. Among them, Pareulype berberata and Entephria flavicinctata are esti- mated to be the most threatened because their populations are isolated and seem to be small in size. The tops of these mountains are inhabited by specialized moth communities, which are strikingly different from those at lower altitudes on the same massif further south. The majority of the species recorded in the sub-alpine prairies studied occur most frequently and abundantly in the core area of the Pollino Massif. -

Grotenfelt, Rantamajantie 8, SF-02700 Kauniainen, Finland Summary In the Palaearctic region, Chersotis andereggii auct. has been found to include three species differing from each other mainly in male genital structures and in geographi- cal range. C. andereggii (Boisduval, 1834) occurs from Europe eastward to the Central Asiatic and Siberian mountains ; the isolated Baltic population differs in appearance from that of the Alps and is described as a new subspecies. C acutangula (Staudinger, 1892) stat. n. occurs in the Central Asiatic mountains. C. juncta (Grote, 1878) is widely distributed in North America (the only Nearctic Chersotis), and is now reported from the eastern Palaearctic, having earlier been misidentified as C andereggii. Adults and male genital structures of all three species, as well as the male genitalia of C. reetangida (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), are described and illustrated, and the phylogeny of the group is discussed. Lectotypes are designated for C. andereggii, C acutangula and C exclamans (Eversmann, 1841), a junior synonym of C andereggii. C sjuntensis Kuznetzov, 1958 is possibly a distinct species near C. reetangida, and C hampsoni (A. Bang-Haas, 1910) comb, n. is transferred to the genus Chersotis. 1. -
Errata and First Update to the 2010 Checklist of the Lepidoptera Of
Errata and first uppppdate to the 2010 checklist of the Lepidoptera of Alberta Gregory R. Pohl, Jason J Dombroskie, Jean‐François Landry, Charles D Bird, and Vazrick Nazari lead author contact: [email protected] Introduction: Since the Annotated list of the Lepidoptera of Alberta was published in March 2010 (Pohl et al. 2010), a few typographical and nomenclatural errors have come to the authors' attention, as well as three erroneous AB records that were inadvertently omitted from that publication. Additionally, a considerable number of new AB species records have been brought to our attention since that checklist went to press. As expected, most are microlepidoptera. We detail all these items below, in what we hope will be a regular series of addenda to the AB list. If you are aware of further errors or additions to the AB Lepidoptera list, please contact the authors. Wit hin the NidNoctuoidea, there are a few minor iiiinconsistencies in the order of species wihiithin genera, and in the order of genera within tribes or subtribes, as compared to the sequence published by Lafontaine & Schmidt (2010). As well, the sequence of tribes in the AB list does not exactly match that of Lafontaine & Schmidt (2010), particularly in the Erebinae. We are not detailing those minor differences here unless they involve a move to a new genus or new higher taxonomic category. Errata: Abstract, p. 2, line 10, should read "1530... annotations are given" 41 Nemapogon granella (p. 55). Add Kearfott (1905) to the AB literature records. 78 Caloptilia syringella (p. 60). This species should be placed in the genus Gracillaria as per De Prins & De Prins (2005). -

Nur wenige und kleinräumige Biozönosen prägen die Landschaft zwischen Hieflau und dem Alpenrand. Die auffallendsten sind eine trockene Felssteppe bei Küpfern, die Südflanke des Schiefer- steins, und eben die Kreuzmauer. Kein Wunder, wenn die inneralpine xerotherme Felssteppe auf der Kreuzmauer bald das Interesse der oberösterreichischen Botaniker und Entomologen erregte. Die Motivation zur vorliegenden Arbeit ist die über Jahrzehnte dauernde Beobachtung des in dieser Arbeit behandelten Gebietes. Der Erstautor besuchte die Kreuzmauer zum ersten Mal im Jahre 1939 im Alter von 7 Jahren. Seither erfolgten viele Besuche, fast alle als Sammelexkursionen. Im Jahre 1987 folgten viele Nachtexkursionen der beiden Auto- ren, und diese Methode wurde in den Folgejahren fallweise und wieder 1998 regelmäßig praktiziert. -

PÖLL Abstract: Oliga dubia (HEYDEMANN 1942) is recorderd the first time for Upper Austria. K e y w o r d s : Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Oligia dubia, Upper Austria. Einleitung Anlässlich einer Tagung im Innsbrucker Ferdinandeum wurde im Oktober 2006 über den Erstfund von Oliga dubia (HEYDEMANN 1942) für Deutschland berichtet, der inzwischen auch publiziert ist (HASLBERGER 2007). Die dadurch angeregte Sichtung von Sammlungsmaterial erbrachte sechs Nachweise aus dem Salzkammergut, die den Erstnachweis von Oligia dubia für Oberösterreich darstellen. Diskussion Der Erstnachweis für Österreich stammte aus dem Bluntautal im Bundesland Salzburg (HEYDEMANN 1964, EMBACHER 1985) dieses Vorkommen konnte auch rezent bestätigt werden (EMBACHER 2005). Des weiteren ist die Art aus Tirol (pers. Mitt. P. Huemer in HASLBERGER 2007), Vorarlberg (ZILLY et al. 2005) und Kärnten (HUEMER & WIESER 1996) bekannt. Eine Meldung aus der Steiermark (HABELER 1973) stellte sich als falsch heraus (REZBANYAI-RESER 1984). Die bisher bekannte Verbreitung für Europa wurde von HASLBERGER (2007) mit Schweiz, Österreich, N-Italien, Deutschland, Slovenien und Kroatien angegeben. Bei den Meldungen aus Ungarn und Rumänien handelt es sich um Fehlbestimmungen (FAZEKAS 1977, RÁKOSY 1996). Die neuen Nachweise aus Deutschland führten in der Folge zur Überprüfung von Tieren aus Oberösterreich. Dabei konnten insgesamt sechs Exemplare von Oliga dubia von vier verschiedenen Fundorten aus dem südlichen Teil von Oberösterreich nachgewiesen werden, welche als Erstnachweis für das Bundesland zu werten sind. Zoogeography of the Holarctic Species of the Noctuidae (Lepidoptera): Importance of the Bering Ian Refuge

Fennica 2: 157- 173. As a result of published and unpublished revisionary work, literature compi lation and expeditions to the Beringian area, 98 species of the Noctuidae are listed as Holarctic and grouped according to their taxonomic and distributional history. Of the 44 species considered to be "naturall y" Holarctic before this study, 27 (61 %) are confirmed as Holarctic; 16 species are added on account of range extensions and 29 because of changes in their taxonomic status; 17 taxa are deleted from the Holarctic list. This brings the total of the group to 72 species. Thirteen species are considered to be introduced by man from Europe, a further eight to have been transported by man in the subtropical areas, and five migrant species, three of them of Neotropical origin, may have been assisted by man. The m~jority of the "naturally" Holarctic species are associated with tundra habitats. The species of dry tundra are frequently endemic to Beringia. In the taiga zone, most Holarctic connections consist of Palaearctic/ Nearctic species pairs. The proportion ofHolarctic species decreases from 100 % in the High Arctic to between 40 and 75 % in Beringia and the northern taiga zone, and from between 10 and 20 % in Newfoundland and Finland to between 2 and 4 % in southern Ontario, Central Europe, Spain and Primorye. -

Bunun için farklı böcek takımlarına ait türler laboratuvarda kültüre alınarak parazitoit olarak yaşayan Tachinidae türleri elde edilmiştir. Kültüre alınan Lepidoptera takımına ait türler içerisinden, Euproctis chrysorrhoea (L.), Lymantria dispar (L.), Malacosoma neustrium (L.), Smyra dentinosa Freyer, Thaumetopoea solitaria Freyer, Thaumetopoea sp. ve Vanessa sp.,'den parazitoit elde edilmiş,
