Volume 18 Issue 2 Feb. 2021 2021 AARP Tax-Aide - Call (530) 405-9855 Interest list forming now, appointments estimated to start mid-February This year, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will again be offering free tax preparation assistance through the Woodland Senior Center. Naturally, local restrictions will necessitate changes to how appointments are handled. Starting in mid-February, Tax-Aide volunteers will begin scheduling appointments. There will be three basic steps:

1. Bring tax documents to be scanned by AARP volunteers 2. Conduct video or phone appointment with a tax preparer 3. Either E-sign returns, or come back to sign documents

Please call (530) 405-9855 to be put on the appointment interest queue. Visit bit.ly/yolotaxes for program updates. You will likely need to leave a message, so be sure to leave your name, email address, and your best callback number! If you leave a message with the Senior Center Welcome Desk, your contact information will be forwarded to AARP volunteers. This will be a challenging year. With your cooperation, we can meet those challenges and still provide an essential service safely and securely. Please be patient as we navigate new ways to serve you!

Zoom 101—Make Your Appointment Now! THIS IS IMPORTANT! YOU MUST HAVE EITHER: 1) A COMPUTER WITH A CAMERA AND MICROPHONE, 2) A TABLET WITH A CAMERA AND MICROPHONE, OR 3) A MODERN SMARTPHONE. YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS AND ACCESS TO YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT. Call the Woodland Senior Center Welcome Desk at (530) 661-2001 if you are interested in making an appointment to learn how to use Zoom, a virtual meeting app that is capable of linking together dozens of people at the same time! A staff member will contact you personally and walk you through the steps in creating a Zoom account, learning how to navigate the controls, and how to communicate with each other. This will help you to play our virtual games, and also participate in virtual exercise classes and support groups.

Bingo Buddies (Virtual Bingo) Wednesdays, 10:00 am Let’s get together on Zoom and play a game of Bingo! Keep your Bingo cards from December for potential future games! There is a limit of 20 spaces to play per game, please sign up ASAP! In order to play, you need: your supplied Bingo cards (with number), and 48 small items to cover numbers (like pennies, pebbles, chips, etc.). There will be some small prizes to win (while they last). If you do not have a Bingo card, call the Welcome Desk to request one.
