A "I’ve worked with staff to develop a vision for Nelson College – to be a leader in our community and to provide a world-class education in Nelson. This is not too dissimilar to the school’s founding deed in the 1850s.     TVNZ will be bringing you extensive coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Featuring all the Kiwi moments, from lunchtime to 1am daily on DUKE, and daily highlights across TVNZ 1, DUKE and OnDemand. We will bring you a more specific broadcast schedule closer to the start of the event. In the meantime, here is a taster of things to come! Tuesday 24 August from 11pm The 2020 Paralympic Games kicks off with the Opening Ceremony live from the Tokyo Olympic Stadium. Wednesday 25 August from midday Day 1 coverage from Tokyo features Kiwis in Swimming action from the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, Track Cycling along with New Zealand’s Wheelchair Rugby match against the USA. In the evening we go back to the pool for Finals action and then finish the night with Great Britain taking on Canada in Wheelchair Rugby. Thursday 26 August from midday Day 2 features Sophie Pascoe in the pool followed by Wheelchair Rugby and then Track Cycling, before heading back to the pool for the evening session of Finals. We close the evening off with the New Zealand Wheel Blacks match against Great Britain, and France’s match with Australia. Friday 27 August from midday Swimming Heats from the Tokyo Aquatics Centre kickstarts the day, followed by Track Cycling from the Izu Velodrome and Athletics action from the Tokyo Olympic Stadium. The evening sees Swimming Finals followed by New Zealand taking on Canada in Wheelchair Rugby. Saturday 28 August from midday Day 4 starts with Swimming heats followed by Athletics from the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, Wheelchair Rugby action before heading back to the pool for the evening session.

    World Netball Announces VOA Working Group EMBARGOED UNTIL TUESDAY 29th JUNE, 9:00AM BST World Netball Announces ‘Voice of the Athlete’ Working Group World Netball has announced its ‘Voice of the Athlete’ Working Group following the launch of its Strategic Plan. Under its core strategic pillar, ‘Govern’, World Netball highlights the importance of working collaboratively with those that live and breathe netball every day in order to develop the sport. The Voice of the Athlete Working Group will begin this process by working together throughout 2021 to determine a suitable framework for a future Athletes Commission, which will be established following recommendations by the Working Group to the World Netball Board. Rhona was appointed as Chair of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Commission, a role which was established when the Games were awarded to Scotland in 2007. Following this in 2016, Rhona was selected to develop and implement the first Athletes Advisory Commission on behalf of the Commonwealth Games Federation.

    ISSUE 46 August 2016 Wakefield Volunteer Fire Brigade Honours Evening by Dot Ashton Fritz Buckendahl was awarded his United Fire Brigade Association Gold Star on July 2nd after twenty five years service to the New Zealand Fire Service. Fritz joined the Fire Service in Tokoroa in 1991 where his work in the forestry service fitted well with the volunteer fire service role. From the start of his time, Fritz was a very keen member of the Brigade and began his incredible record of attendance at training nights which stands at over 95 percent for the entire 25 years service. In 1994 Fritz moved his family from Tokoroa to Wakefield following his forestry career. At the same time he transferred to the Wakefield Brigade in which he has served since. Over his time in the Wakefield Brigade, Fritz has held many roles culminating in his current position of Chief Fire Officer. Fritz gives a significant amount of his time to the Fire Service yet still finds time for other work in the community including a position on the Wakefield Community Council. Fritz’s Gold Star is the tenth awarded to members of the Wakefield Brigade, which shows the depth of experience and commitment by the Brigade to Wakefield, considering the Brigade was only established in 1953.
