In the world of cabarets, the Lido de Paris is a living legend, known for constantly reinventing itself. It was here that the concept of the Dinner Show was born, and, over the years, the venue’s many human and technical innovations have attracted worldwide acclaim. THE SHOW PARIS MERVEILLES An exceptional evening awaits you with Paris Merveilles, the latest creation from the Lido de Paris. Produced and directed by Franco Dragone, the celebrated director of the Cirque du Soleil, Paris Merveilles adds a twist to the classic cabaret show while paying homage to Paris and Parisian women. The show brings together 60 performers from around the world, including the famed Bluebell Girls, who embody Parisian glamour and sensuality with their feathered rhinestone costumes and headdresses. Paris Merveilles also reserves a few surprises, including a turn by hip-hop dancers and an awe-inspiring routine from figure skaters. So, get ready to be blown away from the moment the curtain goes up! ARGENTINA VENUE The Grand Rex is one of the best-known movie theatres on Paris’s 'Grands Boulevards’. Its external facade, outsized compared to neighbouring buildings, features large neon signs and an art deco tower. The theatre's 2,800 places are the most of any in Europe, and its 300 m2 screen (24.90 m (82 ft) wide and 11.35 m (37 ft) high) is the largest in Paris. The Grand Rex (or the Rex as it was originally known) was built in 1931 by a wealthy film producer known for bringing Charlie Chaplin to French audiences. His aim was to create the most beautiful movie theatre in Paris, where cinema-goers would feel like they were watching a film in the open air. The Grand Rex's main auditorium features a starred ceiling and fairy-tale decorations on both sides of the screen, including water features. It hosts French premieres of new movies, plus special events and shows. SHOW Argentina, the magical tango musical! Argentina is a show that takes viewers on a fabulous journey into the sizzling streets of Buenos Aires during the Roaring Twenties. The storyline of this captivating tango show – a potent cocktail of passion, dance and song – has Charlie Chaplin falling madly in love with a migrant woman. TUTU VENUE Bobino is a theatre located on Paris’s Left Bank on a street well-known for its cultural nightlife. Named after an Italian clown who found fame in Paris in the 19th century, Bobino has an unusual history. Since its opening in 1870, the theatre has welcomed an impressive roll call of artists from the French scene, including Edith Piaf and Barbara, but also the American Josephine Baker. Totally rebuilt in 1985, the Bobino experimented with different directions until 2010, when its director pursued a new vision, opening the theatre to one-man-shows, dance, concerts and musicals. SHOW Tutu explores some of the stage’s most famous and important dance works from Swan Lake to Pina Bausch … with a twist. Packed with rhythm and humour, the show features six dancers who, over the course of 20 scenes, become icons of classical ballet, contemporary dance, rhythmic dance, academic dance – and even acrobatic dance. It’s a show filled with colourful surprises that will wow and delight audiences. At its heart are the six chameleon-esque men who play all the roles – more than 40 characters that will have you laughing, gasping and applauding. ‘Chicos Mambo’, the company behind Tutu, is known for its technical wizardry and sense of humour – and both are on show here! LES FRANGLAISES VENUE Bobino is a theatre located on Paris’s Left Bank on a street well-known for its cultural nightlife. SHOW Les Franglaises is back in Paris after a successful tour in France and abroad. The show won Best Musical at the 2015 Molières (the French equivalent of the Tony or Olivier awards). Why? Because it’s an hilarious romp through the Anglo-Saxon musical repertoire, a fun-filled show that knowingly plays with all the rules. Les Franglaises offers up literal French translations of some of the best-known songs originally created in English – with some entertaining results! Filled with song, dance and audacious sound effects, Les Franglaises is a unique and memorable moment of unadulterated joy! MAISON DE LA RADIO/AUDITORIUM VENUE An iconic venue since the 1960s, the Maison de la Radio is located by the Seine close to the Eiffel Tower and is home to France’s national radio stations. The building is also known as 'Maison Ronde' (Round House) because of its oval architecture. Three years ago, the Maison de la Radio inaugurated a new auditorium for public concerts. Designed to enhance the listening experience, this concert hall was designed with 1,400 seats encircling the stage, offering greater proximity and intimacy for both musicians and music lovers. SHOW – SHOSTAKOVITCH 1917 November 2017: a century ago, according to the Julian calendar used in Russia at the time, Lenin took advantage of the fall of Tsar Nicolas II to found the myth of the Russian Revolution. Shostakovich, whether he liked it or not, was enlisted to celebrate this momentous event of 1917. The result piece was Symphony No. 12, with the last movement simply entitled ‘The Dawn of Humanity’. An entirely different perspective is offered up in his Symphony No. 9 and in his Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra – where ideological references are completely absent.
