(PTI) The good first: anyone who cares about India should be rejoicing that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to do what it did. I am a fan of Sheila Dikshit — she is surely one of the best Congress chief ministers in modern memory — and I wish it did not have to happen at her expense, but the sheer improbability of what the AAP achieved has to be celebrated. Omar Abdullah, in a recent piece, gives the example of NT Rama Rao and the remarkable ride of the Telugu Desam Party — but it is very different to be the entrant in what was essentially a one-party state than when there is two-party competition. To see this consider the choice of an AAP sympathiser in Delhi: whether it makes sense for him to turn that sympathy into a vote turns on what he thinks everyone else will do. If all the BJP supporters continue to vote for the BJP but some Congress supporters like him waver and vote for the AAP, all that would happen is that BJP would end up winning, which, for him, is the worst possible outcome. For it to make sense for him to give up on his old loyalties and switch to the AAP he needs have faith that enough BJP supporters are doing the same, unless the switch from the Congress is massive enough to give victory to the AAP on its own.

Spendarmad (Avesta Spenta Armaiti) is the Amesha Spenta specifically designated to look after Mother Earth. Readers are requested to pray Spendarmad ni Setayash to seek her blessings on this day. oj Spendarmad, Mah Spendarmad (Spendarmad Parab) is a spiritually vital and important day of the Zoroastrian calendar. Long before the shrill cries of the eco-brigade began to be heard, the practices and precepts of our ancient faith were already attuned to green living, carbonless footprint and eco-sensitiveness. Spendarmad (Avesta Spenta Armaiti) is the Amesha Spenta specifically designated to look after Mother Earth. Through her associates and co-workers, Geush Urva and Geush Tashan, Spenta Armaiti patiently bears the weight of the immeasurable levels of spiritual and physical pollution generated by man over the ages. Spenta Armaiti is also responsible for the fertility of the earth, working along with Khordad, who looks after the waters, and Amardad, who looks after vegetation and crops. These great forces of Ahura Mazda's Divine Cabinet work silently in the background, providing things which we take for granted today. Roj Spendarmad, Mah Spendarmad is also the Day of the Farmer. A few decades ago, when many Parsis were engaged in agriculture, this day was celebrated with great solemnity and reverence. The Parsi farmers would call their family priests to their wadis to consecrate a special Baj, in honor of Spenta Armaiti, or perform a thanksgiving Jashan. A more important spiritual practice followed by our ancestors was the writing of the special Nirang, or potent spiritual formula, called 'Nirang-i-Khrafastar Zadan'.

Though the constitutional provisions allowed the women to leave the relative calm of the domestic sphere to enter the male- dominated political sphere, the involvement of women in politics has been low key. The political contribution of women is a social process crucial to development and progress. The status of women is measured internationally by the participation of women in politics and their empowerment. Women remain seriously underrepresented in decision-making positions. but still, awareness should be created among women to participate in politics with courage. The findings on the participation of women in politics are increasing. It is significant in the study on political empowerment and participation of women in politics. To secure women’s rightful place in society and to enable them to decide their destiny and for the growth of genuine and sustainable democracy, women's participation in politics is essential. This will not only uplift their personality but will open the way for their social and economic empowerment. Their contribution to public life will solve many problems in society. It concludes that the participation of women is essential as demand for simple justice as well as a necessary condition for human existence.

Derrida’s “classical” formulation of the relationship between the living-on of a text and (un)translat- ability is in Parages (147–48). See also “Des Tours” on “the necessary and impos- sible task of translation” (171) and its relation with the surviving dimension of the work (182), a reading of Walter Benjamin’s “The Task of the Translator.” In one of his posthumously published seminars, he stresses that survival—or, as he prefers to call it, “survivance”—is “neither life nor death pure and simple,” and that it is “not thinkable on the basis of the opposition between life and death” (Beast II 130). “Survivance” is a trace structure of iterability, a “living dead machine” (131).     Shakespeare and Film: A Bibliographic Index (from Film to Book) Jordi Sala-Lleal University of Girona [email protected] Research into film adaptation has increased very considerably over recent decades, a development that coincides with postmodern interest in cultural cross-overs, artistic hybrids or heterogeneous discourses about our world. Film adaptation of Shakespearian drama is at the forefront of this research: there are numerous general works and partial studies on the cinema that have grown out of the works of William Shakespeare. Many of these are very valuable and of great interest and, in effect, form a body of work that is hybrid and heterogeneous. It seems important, therefore, to be able to consult a detailed and extensive bibliography in this field, and this is the contribution that we offer here. This work aims to be of help to all researchers into Shakespearian film by providing a useful tool for ordering and clarifying the field. It is in the form of an index that relates the bibliographic items with the films of the Shakespearian corpus, going from the film to each of the citations and works that study it. Researchers in this field should find this of particular use since they will be able to see immediately where to find information on every one of the films relating to Shakespeare. Though this is the most important aspect, this work can be of use in other ways since it includes an ordered list of the most important contributions to research on the subject, and a second, extensive, list of films related to Shakespeare in order of their links to the various works of the canon.
