It is bordered by Rhyd-y-Foel and Abergele to the east, Dolwen to the south west and Old Colwyn to the north. As well as Colwyn Bay, other nearby towns and villages include Llandudno, Llanddulas, Mochdre, Betws yn Rhos, Pensarn and Towyn. The name Llysfaen is Welsh for stone court. According to tradition, Saint Cynfran founded the church in Llysfaen circa 777 AD. The present church dates back to 1377.
