Keith Talks to Dave Travis John Howard Gets Really Saucy TFTW

EPs and statistics have always been desirable to the record collector, and no definitive book on every EP issued has ever been published. Vintage Records did issue the long deleted “Collectable EPs” (published in 1982) of British EPs, but this was a personal selection chosen by the long gone London record shop, but does contain what they consider over 3700 vintage obscurities. The “British Hit EPs” book I consider as a bolt-on reference book to “Collectable EPs” which focuses on the hit EPs only. The source gleaned from the Record Retailer, Music Week, Record Mirror and New Record Mirror, therefore the combination of the two books does provide a comprehensive guide for the EP researcher. “British Hit EPs” contains a brief history of the EP which is interesting reading, but the “Technical Notes” and the “How The Information is Presented” do need some digesting before ploughing into the data. The EPs are listed per artist in alpha order showing all their releases, issue dates and track listing, and every page has photos, this section finishes at page 132. -

[email protected] Blekingegatan 25, 11856 Stockholm Sweden 046-8-6426358 I was born in 1946 in middleclass surroundings outside Stockholm, Sweden. Piano lessons in my youth went without any real progress. Culturally Sweden was isolated with a state owned radio and later television with very limited output. It was like the eastern European states behind the iron curtain. At best, perhaps once a year a song with Louis Jordan or Big Joe Turner was heard on the radio. Around 1956 records with Elvis Presley came to Sweden. Through my four year older brother I became absolute fascinated and soon had two other favourites whose records I also started to buy: Little Richard and Fats Domino. -

1 Platters. Les Platters Sont Un Groupe Vocal, Ayant Joui D'une Très Grande
Platters. Les Platters sont un groupe vocal, ayant joui d'une très grande renommée aux États-Unis dans les années 1950, et mondialement connu pour les slows « Only You (And You Alone) », « The Great Pretender », « (You've got) The Magic Touch »; « My Prayer », « Smoke gets in your eyes », « Twilight Time ». Une première version d' « Only You » s'avère même un lamentable échec. Les années 1956 à 1959 seront bercées par leurs succès : «(You've Got) The Magic Touch», «My Prayer», «Twilight Time»... Les Platters se produisent dans des stades, tournent dans le monde entier et apparaissent fréquemment à la télévision. Parallèlement, ils apparaissent au cinéma dans Rock Around The Clock, Carnival Rock, Girls Town... -
The Supremes
The Supremes This article is about the Motown singing group. For other uses, see The Supremes (disambiguation). The Supremes were an American female singing group and the premier act of Motown Records during the 1960s. Founded as the Primettes in Detroit, Michigan, in 1959, the Supremes were the most commercially successful of Motown’s acts and are, to date, America’s most success- ful vocal group[2] with 12 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.[3] Most of these hits were written and produced by Motown’s main songwriting and production team, Holland–Dozier–Holland. At their peak in the mid- 1960s, the Supremes rivaled the Beatles in worldwide popularity,[3] and their success made it possible for fu- ture African American R&B and soul musicians to find mainstream success.[3] Founding members Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown, all from the Brewster- Douglass public housing project in Detroit,[4] formed the Primettes as the sister act to the Primes (with Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks, who went on to form the Temptations).[4] Barbara Martin replaced McGlown in 1960, and the group signed with Motown the following year as the Supremes. Martin left the act in early 1962, and Ross, Ballard, and Wilson carried on as a trio. Frederick Douglass Housing Project in Detroit During the mid-1960s, the Supremes achieved main- stream success with Ross as lead singer. In 1967, Mo- Jenkins decided to create a sister group to the Primes town president Berry Gordy renamed the group Diana called the Primettes.[4] Ballard recruited her best friend Ross & the Supremes, and replaced Ballard with Cindy Mary Wilson, who in turn recruited classmate Diane Birdsong.
