There are different versions of the Android OS and themes available on Android smartphones. These instructions will cover the most basic steps to connect to the MBU Wifi wireless network using a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

1) Get to your device’s Settings screen and choose Wi-Fi. Find and select the MBC Wi-Fi Network.

2) A form should display that allows you to enter your identity (username) and password. You may have to scroll the screen to see the fields that need to be filled out (do not fill out the Anonymous identity field). Select CONNECT to authenticate to network.

3) The device screen may display connecting, obtaining IP address, and other messages while connecting to the MBU Wifi network. After you select connect, your account will be checked for validity, permissions, and set active. Check for the Wi-Fi icon at the top of your Android screen. You are now authenticated on the Mary Baldwin University’s wireless network with wireless access to the internal network and the internet.

 What type of access do I have using my MBU account? Mary Baldwin College students and Faculty/Staff have assigned network accounts that allow access to internal MBU resources and the internet.

 How often do I have to login or authenticate to the MBU Wifi wireless network when I’m on campus? You should only have to logon once. Your device should cache your connection settings. If you are in range of an MBU wireless access point your device should automatically connect and roam on the MBU Wifi network.

 I was disconnected from the MBU Wifi network. You can logon again using your MBU assigned username and password anytime to reauthenticate.

 How do I disconnect from the MBU Wifi network? Go to Settings – Wi-Fi. Press the MBC WiFi (checked off) and select Forget This network.

 I can’t seem to connect to the wireless MBU Wifi network. What should I do? Shut down and restart your smartphone. Rebooting will help with any software problems with the device. Call the MBU Help Desk if you continue to experience connection problems. Phone: (540) 887-7075
