Is there a better way to start the year than with an intensive orchestral tour to places such as Ferrara, Milan, Luxembourg and Grafenegg? Hard to imagine. For Grafenegg it is a pleasure to have the EUYO back in spring. Last summer the orchestra spent three weeks here in Lower Austria with rehearsals, concerts and well-remembered performances in its Summer Home. We are proud to be the Principal Venue Partner for this truly European orchestra. The EUYO is not only a cultural ambassador for the European Union, but also reminds us of the many advantages European cooperation has, and how bright, skilled and diverse Europe’s young people are.

ORCHESTRA IN CITTÀ!

What is the use of an Orchestra in a city? Orchestra in Città! (roughly translated as ‘The Orchestra in the City!’) is a major new EUYO initiative launching in April 2019 that intends to answer that question. It aims to spread the joy of music-making and listening to all the communities that make up the city of Ferrara, from the young to the old, from diverse social areas, and from musicians and non-musicians. At its heart the project is about music as a means to enhance people’s lives, in this case the people of Ferrara, and to really deepen the Orchestra’s residency in the city.

ORCHESTRA IN CITTÀ! PROGRAMME 2019 The programme revolves around four areas of musical EUYO activity, adding to the Orchestra’s current formal concerts OUTREACH: as part of its symphonic and chamber residencies in Ferrara: Chamber Music in schools, hospitals, old age homes and other city institutions EUYO OPEN: Open Rehearsals Open Orchestra Day EUYO Family Concerts CLOSE UP: Schools Concerts Public performances allowing audiences to experience the EUYO EUYO music and KIDS: musicians close up Exploring the idea of a new Ferrara city children’s orchestra
