Il nuovo album, “Ape in Pink Marble”, il nono della discografia, pubblicato da Nonesuch, uscito pochi mesi fa: scritto, prodotto, arrangiato e registrato a Los Angeles dall’artista americano insieme ai suoi collaboratori di lunga data, Noah Georgeson e Josiah Steinbrick, arriva a tre anni dal precedente “Mala”, e contiene atmosfere orientali, anche grazie alla presenza del koto, un’arpa giapponese. PRESS RELEASE GALLERIA MAZZOLI Saturday July 19th 2014 at 6h30 p.m. Galleria Mazzoli in Modena will proudly present the second solo exhibition of Devendra Banhart. The exhibition will be comprised of several series of new works involving various techniques and materials, showing the evolution if his recent artistic research. A significant part of the show will feature the “sphinx” series, where the recurrent motive is indeed the mythological figure with the human head and the lion body ― a protective symbol in ancient Egypt ― guardian of the forbidden gate of the underworld and a symbol for power and enigma in ancient Greece. All of Devendra's monochromatic “sphinxes” are created with Indian ink on vintage paper, providing the drawings with a nostalgic flavor, and appear like enclosed spaces which contain refined tales or nexuses of repeating lines, shapes and figures that sometimes become fantastic and visionary representations, some of whose traits recall petroglyphic engravings. The repetition of some of the motives almost appear as the graphical representations of the tunes that we also find in his music, therefore underlining the close link between the artist's musical and visual expression. The exhibition also explores the theme of still life. In the still life series Devendra interprets the classic genre using a different technique, that of oil on paper, which allows him to experiment various chromatic variations. The exhibition finally presents other new abstract works both on paper and wood. BIOGRAPHY Devendra Banhart exploded on the international music scene in 2002 quickly winning a coterie of devoted fans as well as an unusually hefty amount of critical kudos right from the outset that has grown steadily through to the present. -

Elle masque en général la proclamation de sa propre innocence et le refus de la sanction. Ainsi, le petit pardon, lâché dans une bousculade, où le mot prétend suffire à faire disparaître l’affront. Ou encore la contrition de l’enfant fautif voire celle du criminel dont les demandes effectuées tête baissée et bouche déconfite équivalent à réduction de peine ou droit de récidive. C’est en effet tout bénéfice pour le coupable que de tirer le pardon vers le juridique et de voir en lui le début de la réparation et du non-lieu. Mais pardonner n’est pas légal, pardon n’est pas réparation. Celui-ci n’a rien à voir avec la mesure d’une faute et n’a pas pour fonction première de l’annuler ou d’en réduire l’importance. Au contraire, demander pardon, c’est d’abord demander la reconnaissance pleine et entière de sa faute, accepter d’en être l’auteur et d’en payer la juste sanction. C’est à partir de là que l’on pourra recevoir le pardon, comme un don, un surplus imprévu qui dépasse la faute en lui retirant sa fatalité. -

ACCADEMIA DEI BAMBINI AT FONDAZIONE PRADA IN MILAN PRESENTS “THE ASTONISHING ADVENTURES OF A CELESTIAL ARCHAEOLOGIST”, A NEW SERIES OF WORKSHOPS CONCEIVED AND CURATED BY MUSICIAN AND VISUAL ARTIST DEVENDRA BANHART Milan,2 May 2018 – From Saturday 5 May 2018, Accademia dei bambini at Fondazione Prada in Milan will host a new series of workshops, titled “Imaginary Universes”, conceived and curated by internationally renowned musician and visual artist Devendra Banhart. In the spaces of the Accademia, every Saturday and Sunday, children will have the opportunity to travel through galaxies in a magic imaginary spacecraft. After sailing past stars, space cakes, asteroids and comets, they will arrive at an undiscovered planet, inhabited by strange animals, cheese trees, lights, colours and sounds never seen or heard in any other universe. Employing blank globes and markers, children will be able to invent fantastical unexplored planets. Devendra Banhart will personally lead the workshops scheduled for Saturday 5 May, “The Astonishing Adventures of a Celestial Archaeologist”, at 11am, 2pm and 4pm respectively. Workshops are open to all children aged 4-10. Due to the Accademia’s limited capacity, booking is essential. Places are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. La band americana non può più, ormai, essere considerata una novità. Già le loro precedenti prove avevano raccolto ottimi consensi, come potrà verificarsi andando a spulciare alcuni vecchi Elephant Talk. Un disco giusto un po' più 'digeribile' e lineare dei precedenti, l'ultimo 'Merryweather Post-Pavillion', ma sempre in linea con il moderno folk psichedelico che caratterizzava i precedenti dischi del gruppo. Una proposta non proprio per tutti i palati, insomma. Ne è la conferma il più tiepido riscontro riservatogli da Elephant Talk, in liena del resto con quanto accaduto gli anni scorsi, sia per le uscite degli Animal Collective che per il progetto parallelo Panda Bear. Il 2009 si è rivelato l'anno adatto per uscite piuttosto 'sghembe'. -
