We kicked off 2020 with much to be excited about. With 20 million pounds of concrete poured, our new HQ was quickly coming out of the ground. 89.7 NPR News had once again been named Ohio’s Best Radio News Operation from the Ohio AP. WOSU Classroom had just launched a slew of successful new programs. And on March 2, WOSX went on the air expanding WOSU’s regional radio network to include Granville and portions of Newark and Heath. By mid-March, everything had changed. Many of the WOSU staff were sent home to shelter in place as COVID-19 became more serious. We are grateful for the essential workers – reporters, on-air hosts, engineers, programmers and business office staff – who remained in the Fawcett Center, following strict safety protocols, to keep our radio and television stations on the air. As Central Ohio shut down, WOSU quickly cranked up new initiatives to meet the needs of our community.
