Etwas weniger abenteuerlich, aber auch mitten in der Umwelt-Erfahrung sind die NRW-Natur- DAS FEST DES SPORTS IN NRW sportler. Sie reiten bei Wind und Wetter durchs Münsterland, pad- deln auf Ruhr oder Werse, fahren mit Mountainbikes durch die Eifel. Dabei gilt es viele Regeln zum Schutz von Flora und Fauna zu beachten. Die Natursportverbände stehen dafür, dass der Spagat zwischen freiem Erleben und Auflagen gelingt. (siehe Seite 10 ) Hintergrund GEGEN DEN NRW-VERKEHRSINFARKT SPORTPLATZ STADT Für den Bericht über Sport im urbanen Raum haben sich Fotografin Andrea Bowinkelmann und Redakteur Theo Düttmann aufs Fahrrad gesetzt und sind quer durch Köln gefahren. Vorbei zum Beispiel an Parks, wo Vereins- und Freizeitsportler ungestört aktiv sein können. Ganz anders in der Innenstadt. Wer hier mit dem Bike unterwegs ist, UNTERWEGS AUF DER lebt gefährlich. Jetzt starten wir mit der Fragestellung: „WAS WURDE EIGENTLICH AUS…?“ eine neue Serie, die skizziert, welchen Weg die Newcomer nehmen. Natürlich kommen nicht alle ganz oben an, einige beenden ihre Laufbahn, andere werden internationale Spitze. Wir wollen die ganze Bandbreite möglicher Karrieren vorstellen. Im ersten Teil der Serie porträtieren wir ABASS BARAOU. Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, bereits seit vielen Jahrzehnten macht sich der Sport für die Integration von Migrant*innen stark. Erst 2019 wurde dieses gesellschaftspolitische Engagement bei der 30-Jahr-Feier des Bundesprogramms „Integration durch Sport“ in Berlin ausdrücklich gewürdigt. Als in den vergangenen Jahren die Zahl der nach Deutschland geflohenen Menschen deutlich angestiegen ist, hat das Thema eine neue Dynamik bekommen. Viele Sportvereine in Nord- rhein-Westfalen haben dabei einen wertvollen Beitrag zu einer gelingenden Willkommens- kultur und zu mehr Mitmenschlichkeit, Nächstenliebe und Respekt in unserem Land geleistet. Tausende Menschen mit Zuwanderungsgeschichte haben so über den Sport eine neue Heimat gefunden. Der Landessportbund NRW hat diese Entwicklung tatkräftig mitgestaltet und seit 2016 ein flächendeckendes System an Fachkräften „Integration durch Sport“ aufgebaut. Mit der Eta- blierung von hauptberuflichen Mitarbeiter*innen in den Stadt- und Kreissportbünden sowie ausgewählten Fachverbänden wurden die Weichen für eine nachhaltige und sportbezogene Fotos: LSB Integrationsarbeit gelegt. Über die Arbeit mit den Partnern vor Ort sind mittlerweile viele erfolgreiche Netzwerke entstanden. Gleichzeitig erleben wir derzeit aber auch Fehlentwicklungen: Rechtspopulismus und Diskrimi- nierung gefährden die Fortschritte der letzten Jahre. Mehr denn je sollten wir deshalb auf die Bedeutung der Integrationsarbeit als gesamtgesellschaftliche Querschnittsaufgabe hinwei- sen: Sie fördert Zusammenhalt! Sie überwindet Grenzen! Sie sensibilisiert für ein respektvolles Miteinander! Sie schafft Verständnis für andere Kulturen und Religionen! Kurzum: Sie macht unser Land bunter, stärker und wertvoller. Aus diesem Grund hat der Landessportbund NRW die folgende Sonderausgabe der „Wir im Sport“ vorgelegt.
