Why Wear Red for Pentecost?

The Sunday that is seven weeks (50 days) after Easter Day is the Feast of The Old Testament Reading for Whitsunday (Pentecost) Pentecost. Pentecost is the is the day on which we remember the story given to us in the second chapter of the Book of Acts. Joel 2:28-32 The story goes:– 40 days after the resurrection (which we celebrate at 28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit Easter) Jesus ascends into heaven (which we celebrate on Ascension upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old Day)– But before he ascends, Jesus promises that he will not leave us men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: “comfortless”, but will send the Holy Spirit to strengthen and to guide us, to guide the church. 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. – Ten days later, on the Day of Pentecost, Holy Spirit descended on the people gathered. (note: Pentecost is an ancient Jewish festival of the 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and harvest, the name of which translates from the Hebrew as The Festival of fire, and pillars of smoke. Weeks. This festival is referred to in Exodus chapters 23 ad 34, and in Deuteronomy chapter 16). 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of come. So… on The Day of Pentecost in the church year, fifty days of Easter and ten days after the Ascension, the clergy wear RED vestments to 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of signify the work of the Spirit. It is also a custom in many churches for the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in shall the people in the congregation to wear RED on the Day of Pentecost as be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the well. We wear RED to remind us of the fire of the Spirit. LORD shall call.
