Derekd@Derekd.Com Derek D presents A Multimedia Comedy Show: “NO ORDINARY DAY” November 12th, 2016 Asbury Park, NJ www.derekd.com [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Derek D presents A Multimedia Comedy Show: “No Ordinary Day” Asbury Park, NJ, November 12, 2016 - Derek D’s One Man Multimedia Comedy Show “No Ordinary Day” will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 8PM at the House of Independents. This isn’t your standard stand-up comedy show. This multimedia show includes video, parodies, characters, singing, social media, and stand-up comedy, all performed by Derek “Derek D” DeAngelis. Show segments filmed in Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, and Asbury Park take the audience on Derek’s coast to coast journey sparked by a magic message in a bottle found right here on the beach in Asbury Park as he makes his way back to the venue just in time for the show. Juxtaposing the filmed, scripted segments with his live stage performance, Derek embarks on his quest to uncover the meaning of this magic message. Guests join Derek on screen including rapper/musician Wax (former Def Jam recording artist), and internet celebrity, Mark Douglas of The Key of Awesome! This out of the box performance concept makes this truly a one of a kind comedic event! “No Ordinary Day”, written and produced by Derek D, is his third one man show, but the first production of this magnitude he’s bringing to a local venue in his home area. Local actor/comedian Taylor Allen opens the show with his stand-up set, and local camera operator whose resume includes work on truTV’s Impractical Jokers, and New York Rangers web channel, Michael Pullano, directs this one man show. Currently, Derek is a cast member of the mega popular YouTube comedy channel, The Key of Awesome, and co-host of PBR Podcast with Michael Pullano & Joe Gatto of truTV’s Impractical Jokers. Derek’s resume also includes hosting the 2-time Webby Award winning show Fast Lane Daily - a topical comedic car news show. He’s been seen in national and international commercials, tv, film, print, theater, and has done stand-up comedy at top clubs in NYC and NJ. Tickets for “No Ordinary Day” are on sale now at derekd.com or houseofindependents.com, $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The first 100 people to arrive will find $1 in their playbill and an after party in the venue immediately follows with music provided by local DJ, DJ Funsize! ### www.derekd.com.

  • €˜Impractical Jokers’ Brings Brand Partnership to SDCC Block Party
‘Impractical Jokers’ Brings Brand Partnership to SDCC Block Party 07.24.2017 For Brian "Q" Quinn, Sal Vulcano and James "Murr" Murray, when it comes to challenges on Impractical Jokers, their limit is, well, death. "That's why I'm afraid of the series finale," Murr quipped. But six seasons in, and with Turner's truTV having ordered a seventh, it doesn't seem like he has to worry anytime soon. In fact, the trio (Joe Gatto was attending the birth of his baby girl) talked about plans for a movie and revealed an upcoming nine-episode-long punishment during the Impractical Jokers Block Party at San Diego Comic Con 2017. "It's a punishment that for the first time in Jokers, it affects the rest of the season," Murr said. Photo Credit: Kristin Craik The party at Petco Park offered experiential activations where guests got a taste for some of the pranks featured on the show. Activities included riding a mechanical bull to see if they could outlast Murr in season three, stepping into the ring for pseudo sumo wrestling (without having to wear a diaper as Joe did in season four), and getting first-hand vertigo with a VR experience of walking the same high-rise tightrope the Jokers crossed during their 100th Episode Live Spectacular. "It's truly amazing how these four guys from Staten Island have built this following," said Serge Masyra, senior VP of emerging consumers content partnerships, Turner Ignite. The one-day event drew more than 16,500 people, dwarfing last year's 12,000, and was moved to Petco Park to accommodate the growing attendance.

  • Trutv Keeps Pushing New Comedy Brand Forward
TruTV Keeps Pushing New Comedy Brand Forward 07.31.2017 Ten years after announcing that former cable network Court TV would be relaunched as truTV, eight months have now passed since rebranding in December 2016 from tagline "Not Reality. Actuality" to "Funny Because It's Tru." RELATED: TruTV Taps And/Or for Rebrand Shifting to a comedy focus was risky. Corporate cousin TBS, after all, held that title and parent company Turner Entertainment did not want to cannibalize its own audience. TruTV needed to develop its own signature brand, something TBS also was seeking. Fortunately, there seems to be room for both TBS and truTV, not to mention competitors such as Comedy Central, FXX and IFC. Overall, the initial results for this "hipper" truTV have been promising; particularly the network's decline in median age this season from 43 to 33 years old and its six-year old defining sketch comedy Impractical Jokers. Next season, that shsow hits the 200-episode mark. "Impractical Jokers is our base, a genuine comical and authentic escape from the everyday drama and politics of today," truTV President Chris Linn told Daily Brief at the Television Critics Association summer press tour following individual panels on new series The Chris Gethard Show and At Home with Amy Sedaris. RELATED: Amy Sedaris Describes Her Home-Making Show at TCA "When we realized there was a limited window for advertisers in our earlier line-up of conflict-type reality, we decided to build our schedule around the strategy of showing personalities, and situations, we can all relate to.
