Sports Venues WakeMed Soccer Park The Carolina RailHawks have home matches on 5/7 and 5/14 We have two cause runs on 5/1 and 5/7 NCHSAA Lacrosse State Championships 5/20-5/21 Collegiate Rugby 7’s 5/26-5/29 Sk8-Cary New Parkour Basics class 5/14. Skate and BMX clinics on 5/26 focusing on Dropping in and Box jumps. Sk8-Cary video challenge all videos due on 5/13. Winner will be announced 6/3. One Birthday Party pre-paid and booked for May. Cary Tennis Park The Western Wake Tennis Cinco De Mayo Tennis Tournament will be held on May 6-8th. The NCHSAA 1A and 2A Men’s State Tennis Championships will be held on May 13 and May 14. Senior Appreciation Day is scheduled for May 11th. The event is a group effort involving Western Wake Tennis Association, Cary Senior Center staff and Tennis Park staff – 80 seniors are expected to participate. USTA Adult League and Junior Team Tennis registrations are open for summer seasons. USA Baseball National Training Complex All fields at the NTC are closed the first 3 week in May for maintenance and re- sod. The Town of Cary and University of Mount Olive will co-host the 2016 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship for the 8th consecutive year May 28-June 4. Senior Babe Ruth tryouts will take place in late May at the NTC. III. Cultural Arts Events Triangle Youth String Orchestra: Children’s Concert May 1 I Cary Arts Center I 3 p.m. $5 Adults; $2 School-aged children Learn about string orchestra music by seeing other young people play and talk about the music they love. Tour Starring the Tenderloins May 2 I 7:30 p.m. I Koka Booth Amphitheatre ******THIS SHOW IS FOR AGES 16 & OLDER ONLY****** The Tenderloins, a New York-based comedy troupe, whose four members – Joe Gatto, James Murray, Brian Quinn and Sal Vulcano – are the creators, executive producers, and stars of truTV’s hit series, Impractical Jokers. Currently in its 4th season, Impractical Jokers follows the guys as they coerce one another into doing public pranks while being filmed by hidden cameras. Come offer your inspiration as artists take to Downtown Cary to capture the history, culture and changing landscape as well as scenic views from Cary’s Parks and Greenways. Ritmo Latino Festival May 14 I Town Hall Campus I 12-6:30 p.m. A festival for the whole family, Ritmo Latino showcases Latino music, dance, and visual arts. William Jacobs moved to Charlotte, NC from the Philadelphia area and has been entertaining crowds with his brand of clever and insightful comedy ever since. In addition to Will hosting the March Mania Comedy Tournament, he also is the host of Charlotte’s Improv Fight Night Competition, the house emcee for LOL Thursdays at The Comedy Zone Fort Mill, and a featured member of the Charlotte Comedy Theater improv troupe. Starlight Concert Series: Polka Night with the Polka Plus Band May 20 I Page-Walker Arts & History Center I 7 p.m. Yankovic Day is a free concert designed to bring polka fans together to hear the music of the late Frankie Yankovic. 2016 will be the 21st annual concert performed by the Polka Plus Band. Mr. Yankovic performed with the band in 1997 (the 2nd Annual event). The following year he passed away at the age of 83. It is in the spirit of keeping his music alive for the younger generation that the band performs each year.
