The third season was released on DVD in the region on August 27, 2002. Season 3 is about the relationship between Tony and his children, Meadow, when she begins her freshman year at Columbia University, and Anthony Jr., who has behavioral problems in high school. Tony's relationship with his aging mother, Livia, is brought to a head. Dr. Melfi experiences a horrific personal trauma, but begins to make real progress in discovering the root causes of Tony's panic attacks. Also featured are largely Christopher's rise in the crowd when he becomes a made man, and Tony's extramarital affair with Dr. Melfi's other patient, Gloria.
