APPEAL BOARD OF THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION BETWEEN: SLOUGH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB Appellant -and- THE NATIONAL LEAGUE Respondent DECISION OF THE APPEAL BOARD Hearing: 10 June 2021 Appeal Board: David Casement QC (Chairperson) Independent Specialist Panel Member Matt Wild Independent Football Panel Member Andrew Adie Independent Football Panel Member Michael O’Connor Lead Judicial Services Officer - Secretary Club: Kerry Underwood Solicitor Mike Lightfoot Chairman Kay Lathey General Secretary The National League: Mark Ives General Manager - 1 - Background 1. The general background to this appeal is that as a result of the global pandemic football clubs have been severely affected by the inability to admit fans to matches and have thereby lost substantial parts of their revenue. Government support was provided to clubs in the National League, National League North and National League South in the form of Government grants for the period up to December 2020 however despite the hopes or expectations of many the Government decided that financial support thereafter would generally be in the form of loans. That change in the type of financial assistance was met with great disappointment by clubs. There was also a well-publicised and substantial increase in the rate of infection in December 2020 and January 2021, leading to a further national lockdown being announced by the Government on 4 January 2021. 2. On 22 January 2021 the National League (“the League”) temporarily suspended the Step 2 Competition with immediate effect for two weeks until 6 February 2021. It was clear that, subject to any decision being made to end the season early, fixtures after 6 February 2021 would be effective.

Stones were hoping to continue in the same vein as their mid-week performance against Burton Park Wanderers, but the plans were left in the changing room. From the off it was the visitors pushing forward, Stones’ defence held firm and Dalton certainly proved himself in goal. When Stones did break out of their half the impetus and finish was lacking and the visitors re-applied the pressure on the home defence. A 3-minute flurry on the half-hour saw Stones’ defence undone when an ill judged back pass failed to find Dalton and instead went to the feet of a visiting striker, who made no mistake planting the ball in the net, then Stones conceded a free kick just outside their box, the ball was flighted in, missed by the defence and hammered in at the far post. After the break Stones emerged and tried to regain control of the tie, but the visitors shut up shop at the back and what chances Stones engineered were either soundly dealt with, wide or hit the bar.

  • Terras Times September 2020
Terras Times The newsletter of Weymouth FC Supporters Association. September 2020 2018/2019 Southern League Champions 2019/2020 National League South play off winners. Hi Terras fans, Not much from me this month (no need to cheer that loudly!!) as we are jam packed with content from other contributors. Only remains to say welcome Brian Stock and COYT! James MEMBERSHIP UPDATE Our current membership base is 212, including family members. We also have 50 individual members who have taken advantage of the 5 year membership scheme! So far this calendar year, we have seen 100 new members join , which is incredible! We saw an initial increase when the away travel discount was announced followed by a surge again when the ticketing preference scheme was disclosed in the summer. The addition of online applications via the club shop has proved popular but also slightly problematic. We are required by law to ensure applicants for membership are over 16 years of age, under 16's can be part of family membership, so if you are reading this and have not provided us with your DOB or indeed any other details, you need to get in touch via the email at the bottom. Furthermore, if you have any change to you personal details such a new address, phone number or email address, please communicate it to us so we can keep you up to date. One final but very important point to note for all members. The Terras ticket preference scheme requires Weymouth FC to have the name and membership number of all our members, so they can verify eligibility on application for tickets.

The first trace of the Ironworks was recorded in 1891, the local press reported them beating Stamford Town Reserves 1-0. By the 1892-93 season the Ironworks were the best team around, dislodging the longer established Town, but in the summer of 1894 the clubs merged. The Great War was almost over by the time the next Blackstones Club emerged, joining the Peterborough League in 1918 winning the championship that season. However, the club’s success, indeed its life was short-lived withdrawing from league the following season. 1921 the club re-emerged under a new name Rutland Engineering Works. The Peterborough League of the twenties was formida- ble with the likes of Spalding, Bourne and Yaxley. The club opted for more local competitions, in 1929-30 they lined up in both the Stam- ford Amateur and Deepings Leagues.
