Good afternoon and welcome Well what a few months we have had with games called off all over the place for all 3 teams and a change in management for the 1st team The board made the decision that with 10 games to go and the real possibility of relegation looming changes had to be made with this in mind Laurence Revell was given the job of getting us out of trouble. I wish at this stage to put on record my thanks to Alex Cook who laid the foundations and tried to rebuild howev- er a much more robust rebuild was needed and you can see from todays squad its stated with a group of players being draft- ed in. Last Saturday saw the 1st team draw with Rushden & Higham in a very physical game seeing one of out new signings being clat- tered to the floor and dislocating his shoulder we wish him well and a speedy recovery The reserves with a number of new players from the 1st team drew 0-0 with interestingly the team they play away today The Development continue to fly the flag for HTFC beating Park Farm Pumas 4-1 So the new Management team is in new players starting to set- tle we look forward to some good football and positive results from all 3 teams

Doug McIlwain - Chairman

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen men and welcome to our United Counties league division 1 game against Blackstones. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome the players, management, staff and supporters of today opponents and hope they have an enjoyable visit here at Jubilee Park.. As I am sure you are all aware there have been some significant changes on and off the field at the club in the past week. Probably the biggest was a change of management for the first team. Kevin O’Sullivan (Assistant manager) and I join you having both worked together at Potton United. We will be joined by Graham Hagger (technical manager) and Nick Whitehouse (Physiotherapist). Without a doubt our sole aim and brief is to move the club out of the relegation places in to a posi- tion of safety to ensure the club will be at step 6 again next season. It’s certainly a challenge especially as the teams last victory came in the first week of October 2019. We have brought in a number of new players to assist with this challenge and I am very grateful for the assistance of Barton Rovers, Potton United, Shefford and Campton and ST Ives town who have assisted in player movement to make what us now a more competitive squad. My management team and I have been incredibly impressed with the setup here at Jubilee Park and with the tremendous volunteers who give you there time to make it the facility it is. When a new management team coming sometimes there can be a little hostility but there has been none of that in fact quite the opposite, from club staff right through to the players and management we have been made to feel very welcome. I would especially like to thank the Chairman, Clive (Reserve manager) Luke (Development manager) and the first team captain Wilkins for their assis- tance and support since our arrival. Saturday saw us take charge of our first game away at Rushden ad Higham. I always loved this ground as a player and have enjoyed going back as a manager. It’s a proper UCL ground, albeit with a number of changes since diamonds have moved in and the club is run by proper football peo- ple, the latter a rarity in today’s game. With no training in the week due to the flooded training ground (will the rain ever stop) the new play- ers met their team mates for the first time in the changing room which clearly is not ideal. It was a game we wanted at least a point from, yes we were bedding in new players who had only just met in the changing room but we felt we had the quality to take the game to Rushden. The first 20 minutes was very scrappy with both teams making mistakes in possession. During this period we lost one of our new signings, Striker Joel Diri with a dislocated shoulder, which will now unfortunately rule him out for the rest of the season. Having got to know each other’s names we began dictate play a little more having a number of de- cent chances but finding the Rushden keeper in great form. The half ended with us very much in the ascendency but without reward to show for it. The second half was much like the first, a combination of good goal keeping and a goal line clear- ance meant that it wasn’t to be our day in front of goal. The game ended in a 0-0 stalemate but for a first game with so many new players we were happy with a point especially as our relegation rivals all lost. Today’s opponents represent a very tough test, In Lee Clarke they have one of the divisions all-time best strikers who has scored goals at most levels in the non league game. We will have to be on our metal to keep lee and his team mates at bay today. Let’s hope lady luck is looking favourable upon us today I hope you enjoy the game

Lorro Town Football Club were formed in 1995 following a move from the West Anglian League to the Cambs League. Prior to entry to the Cambs League Division 2B for the 1996-97 season, Town were known as Sun FC and origi- nally began life back in 1980 as the Montagu which was formed by the current Secretary Russell Yezek. The committee decided that they wished to progress in local football and choose to resurrect the then defunct name of Huntingdon Town. Progress was soon made both on & off the field. Behind the scenes the club is run on a very sound footing by a solid committee led by Chairman Hans Reif. On the playing front the appointment of Manager Andy Rossi, who’s wealth of experience on both the playing & Managerial side, led to a steady climb through the Cambs league. In 1998 “The Town” gained promotion from Division 2B into Division 1B. In the season 1999-2000 the club finished as winners of Division 1B as well as winning the Huntingdonshire FA Junior Cup for the first time. The following season saw more Cup success, retaining the Hunts Junior Cup, as well as runners up in the Hunts Scott Gatty Cup. The 2001-2002 season was also very successful winning the Scott Gatty Cup & also the Hunts Junior Cup for the third successive time. The club also finished runners up in the Cambs League Senior B Division and the Percy Oldham Cup that season. TheClub moved to their new site at Jubilee Park in 2003 & this enabled work to be undertaken to provide the facilities neces- sary for the continued progression of the Club. The team moved to play in the UCL Division 1, having transferred from the Cambs league at the end of the 2002/2003 season. The first four seasons in the United Counties League were something of a learning curve for Town, reflected in their league positions of 17th, 14th, 12th & 14th respectively. The 2007-2008 saw the 1st Team finish 4th only missing out on promotion by goal difference & the Reserves win the Reserve Division 2 Title & win the Hunts Benevolent Cup. Huntingdon Town also run an Under 18 side in the Ridgeons Youth League. All three teams play their home games at the Clubs Jubilee Park ground on Kings Ripton Road, In July 2004 the new £37,000 floodlighting system was opened with a match against United which attracted a near 1000 crowd. The new £1.1 million Clubhouse was open for the 2009-2010 season with the only success on the field being the all conquering U18 team, winning the league, league Cup & County Cup. The 2011-2012 season started full of optimism, with a new Chairman at the helm & many new signings. Faith was kept with the Management pairing of Ricky Marheineke & Paul Swannell who guided Town to a credible 5th place in the 2010-2011 season after sitting 3rd from bottom when taking over in February 2011. Optimism turned to joy with Town winning the United Counties League Division 1 Title, scoring over 100 goals in the process. Manager Ricky Marheineke won 2 Manager of the month awards. Town also reached the Semi – Final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup losing 3 – 0 to step 4 side St Neots Town. A new 50 seater stand was erected, with another planned by the end of the 2012–2013 season The 2012-2013 season saw Town finish 4th in their first season in the Premier again scoring over 100 goals & reaching the Hunts Senior Cup Final drawing 0-0 with St Neots Town & losing on Penalties. The second 50 seat stand was erect- ed The 2013-2014 season saw Town finish runners up in the league again scoring over 100 goals. But won the league KO Cup & the prestigious Hinchingbrooke Cup both for the first time The 2014-2015 season saw Town just staved off relegation, the club started the 2015-2016 season in turmoil. Doug McIlwain was bought in as Chairman to steady the ship & move the club forward. Rebuilding came with a price, losing both the Reserve & U18 team by the end of the season. Although Town finish bottom of the league for the first time in their history, due to circumstances held on to their posi- tion in the UCL Premier Division, so the 2016-2017 season starts on a more positive note with Bob Warby as Manager & Mark Forrest as his assistant full of optimism The 2016-2017 season saw Town bottom of the league for the second year running, but this time were relegated to Division 1. James Brattan & Ryan Hunnings were appointed joint Managers. Bob Warby has taking the role of Sporting Director to look to develop the Club to gain more Teams. Starting this season with the formation of an U18 team The 2017-2018 Season saw Town finish a credible 12th in Division 1 & reach the Final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup 5-6 year olds 9-10 am 7-10 year olds 10.15-11.15am

The first club with links with Blackstones was the Ironworks; the club’s headquarters were the Half Moon Inn while matches were played on Ryhall Road, Stamford. The first trace of the Ironworks was recorded in 1891, the local press reported them beating Stamford Town Reserves 1-0. By the 1892-93 season the Ironworks were the best team around, dislodging the longer established Town, but in the summer of 1894 the clubs merged.

The Great War was almost over by the time the next Blackstones Club emerged, joining the Peterborough League in 1918 winning the champion- ship that season. However, the club’s success, indeed its life was short-lived withdrawing from league the following season. 1921 the club re- emerged under a new name Rutland Engineering Works. The Peterborough League of the twenties was formidable with the likes of Spalding, Bourne and Yaxley. The club opted for more local competitions, in 1929-30 they lined up in both the Stamford Amateur and Deepings Leagues. In 1929-30 they won the championship of both competitions. By 1933 the club again disappeared from the scene. In 1938 the club by now known as Blackstones returned to action, again playing in two leagues Peterborough and Stamford Amateur Leagues. Both leagues abandoned during the Second World War. In 1949 the club returned to the Peterborough League but in 1951 they re-joined the Stamford Amateur League. 1959 saw them re-join the Peterborough League and this was to last 25 years. 1960-1961 was one of the club’s most successful years winning promotion to Division Two and capturing four local cup competitions. Further success followed a year later when the Division Two title was won and promotion to Division One again followed. However, the following season saw them relegated again. 1969 once more saw the club gain promotion back into Division One. 1975-76 the clubs won Division One and along with the improving facilities at Lincoln Road were promoted to the . The eight seasons at that level saw a best finishing place of fourth in 1977-78. Also during 1978 they were accepted into the FA. Vase for the first time.

In the seventies, the club had established a youth policy under the guidance of Pete Thomas and this was a great success. The best-known player to emerge from this policy was Alan Nelson who was signed by Newcastle United and later transferred to Southampton for a fee of £300,000.

In1984 the club entered senior football by joining the United Counties League Division One. 1987 saw the Stones (as they were now nicknamed) promoted to the Premier Division, finishing runners-up to Spencer. 1987-88 had also seen Reserves join the UCL. By 1990 they completed the Double, winning the Reserve Division One title and Reserve Knockout Cup. In 1987 floodlights were installed. The following season the lights were officially opened with Aston Villa sending a strong side to open them, the result being a 2-2 draw. 1991-92 season saw the Stones have an exciting FA. Cup run, beating Bishops Stortford in a First Qualifying Round replay at Lincoln Road 2-0. Stones made their exit in the next round losing by a single goal to Heybridge Swifts. 1992-93 saw the Stones land their first major trophy, the Lincs Senior Cup A. In a dramatic final against Bourne, Stones ran out 2-1 winners after extra time.

Since entering the Premier Division our best finish in that time is 6th place. Since winning the Lincs Cup in 1993 we then reached two further Cup Finals, losing both! 1995 we lost 5-1 to Bedford Town in the Hinchingbrooke Cup Final at St Neots Town and then in 1997 we lost 3-1 to Glapwell in the Evans Halshaw Floodlit Cup Final at Ilkeston Town.

The Stones have had six Chairmen since joining the United Counties League, Andy MacDonald, Bill Sewell, Darren Laughton, Kevin Boor, K.Doyle and Gary Peace. We have also had 12 Managers in that period, Ian Jarvie, Chris Corby, Steve Blades, Dominic Genovese, Vince Adams, Ian Jack- son, Mel Landin, Kevin Flynn, Tony Lowther, D.Bird and Joint M. Goode and D. Jarvis, Dave Stratton, Gary Peace, Phil Gadsby and Andy Lodge.

Season 2003-04 proved to be yet another successful one on the “Cup Front” for the Club. Four finals were reached, with the first team “winning” the County Senior ‘A Cup for the second time but losing in the Hinchingbrooke Cup Final. Meanwhile the Reserves went one better in their League Knockout Cup, beating Spalding United in the final but losing in the final of the Ancaster Cup. Both sides improved their position in the League and off the field further improvements were made to Lincoln Road.

2003-2004, 2007-2008 and 2010-2011 seasons all ended with the senior team winning the Lincs Senior Trophy. Season 2012/13 Was dramatic. December 2013 saw managers Jarvis and Goode resign followed by 8 senior players, new manager Dave Stratton, due to financial restraints with- in the club, could not attract established UCL players with the result that Blackstone’s finished in a relegation position. After 23 years in the Prem- ier League Stones were relegated. Season 2013/14 Saw Stones struggling to adapt to Division 1 Football the early Season results were disap- pointing resulting in a change of Manager, in early September, Dave Stratton was replaced by Chairman Gary Peace. Results improved but not sufficient enough, finishing third from bottom.

Season 2014/15, Gary stood aside for Phil Gadsby who brought in player and the season began to look better, but although reaching the final of the Lincs Trophy, losing on penalties to Winterton Rangers, and Winning the Daniels Cup against Stamford Lions, Stones finished 17th that year. The following season was yet another challenge struggling to string results together finishing mid table, then with results failing to materialise in the 2016/17 season and a poor Christmas period a managerial change took place and Andy Lodge took the reins. Now to see what Andy can achieve in the 2017/18 Season. Mid November Andy Lodge stood down from the position of manager and was succeeded by Dan French and Lee Clarke in a joint role.

Season 2017/18 with Dan and Lee at the helm saw a mixed bag of results as the new management got to grips with the challenges of the UCL, finishing 8th in the league, and once more reaching the final of the Daniels cup and for the second time in 3 years lifted the trophy beating Cottesmore Amateurs 2-1 on the day. 03/08/19 Desborough Town Reserves 1 4 HTFC Reserves League
