The 230'fh/ 234U method has been proven to be the most versatil e and useful of all the uranium series methods and has been appli ed to a wide range of materials including speleothems in whi ch the optimal range being around 350 ka using the alpha spectrometer and 500 ka for mass spectrometer. This technique has been used in dating speleothem samples from Kinta Val ley caves. The preliminary ages obtai ned show some in dications that it can be correlated to the rate of denudation in this area. These ages when combined with th e rate of denudation and studi es of slope processes will help in better understanding the evolution of karst land scape. Pangkor Island as one of the leading small island tourist destination faces increasing number of tourist and development. This increase and development lead to impact on environmental attributes of the island. Excessive admittance of tourists to this island with unmonitored activities could also bring possible damage to natural forest trails exist. Soil erosion, imbalance to the habitats of flora and fauna and piling up of rubbish are some of the effects that occurred. It has been reviewed clearly that tourism has brought impacts to the environmental attributes of Pangkor Island due to the increase in the number of tourist and infrastructure development.

The arrival of domestic tourists to Perak in general and Kampar in particular have prompted a significant increase in demand for facilities and services for adventure tourism activities in Kampar, which is considered to be one of the icons of tourism in the state of Perak. However, a lack of information on the profile of visitors has hampered industry players in Kampar when it comes to identifying their target markets, marketing strategies, and added value products without losing sight of conservation priorities in Kampar. The aim of this study was to determine the profile and visit characteristics of visitors in Kampar from the perspective of adventure tourism. To achieve this objective, a study was conducted on domestic visitors who participated in the adventure tourism activities available in Kampar. On-site data from 102 visitors were collected. The results showed that adventure tourism in Kampar is comprised of visitors with an average age of 33 years and a mean monthly income of RM 3638.72. Most of them travel with friends and obtained the information about the destination through word of mouth and social media platforms.

Due to the importance of the tourism industry in the country, it is crucial to ensure that local authorities in Malaysia implement sustainable tourism development. In the 10th Malaysian Plan, the government set a key target to be achieved for the tourism sector. One of the key parties responsible for ensuring that the set targets are achieved is the local authorities, who are responsible for providing proper maintenance because the tourism destinations fall under their area of jurisdiction. The aim of this article is to explore tourism development and planning in one of the popular tourism destination and to analyse the role that local authorities play in the development process. This paper explores the local authorities' views and opinions on their tourism development area using interview and focus group approaches. The paper also combines the analysis of government policy and planning documents with a review of tourism development literature. The findings reveal challenges and issues that are experienced by the local authorities in regard to setting the direction, development and management of tourism development. The issues of tourism development are then discussed for the government to ensure tourism development sustainability in the long term.
