We’re turning 25!! Indeed, this is an age to reflect on the historical moment of the Catalan audiovisual industry today. Looking back, the last editions have given us more than enough happiness, with the exponential presence of our productions at festivals, markets and coproduction forums all around the world. In the past two and a half decades, the “made in Catalonia” concept has unquestionably received the high praise of the main international agents of the audiovisual sector. And this is something we can assert with all the conviction of irrefutable facts. Currently, our indicators suggest that the health of the Catalan audiovisual industry is far better than satisfactory: remarkable participation at all the international festivals; recognition and tributes to our creators; a gradual increase in sales; the internationalisation of production; and the list goes on. And each of these indicators has its corresponding name and surname, or rather, its title. At age 25, we can affirm that there is indeed a Catalan audiovisual brand with fully recognised attributes: quality, innovation and originality. Thus, by now, you must be wondering about the meaning of the silver egg on the cover of this catalogue, which will be accompanying our communication strategy throughout 2011. To offer you an explanation, let me evoke another date, that of 1921. The year in which Catalan surrealist artist Salvador Dalí met filmmaker Luís Buñuel, and following his lead, made his own foray into the film world, which was already one of his passions. That milestone took place 90 years ago, and we feel that there could be no better representative of our anniversary than this union of genius that changed the very perspective of the visual arts. Another new feature of this year’s edition is the condensation of the five catalogues presented in the past into a single and complete volume. On this very special occasion, we have decided to bring all of our production together, to enable all of our audiences to enjoy this unified vision of the great diversity of Catalan audiovisuals. And at the same time, we have taken the catalogue a step further, by including the videogame industry and the new distribution models that have emerged with the information and communication technologies (mobile phone, iPad, etc.). So in a word, what you are holding in your hands is a special edition featuring the very best of the Catalan audiovisual industry. w FICTION — Feature Films — Short Films 2011 — TV Movies — Series — New Platforms fiction w w feature fiction films 2011 fiction — feature films feature fiction feature fiction 10 11 films C films 88 A Thousand Fool by Jordi Mollà Mil cretins by Ventura Pons WRITTEN BY WRITTEN BY Jordi Mollà Ventura Pons Giuseppe Ferlito CAST CAST Joan Crosas Rubén Ochandiano Roger Príncep Beatriz Montáñez Òscar Rabadan Álvaro Cervantes PRODUCED BY PRODUCED BY Els Films de la Rambla Media Films SALES AGENT SALES AGENT Latido Contact producer +34 91 548 88 77 [email protected] Synopsis Synopsis Following the tragic loss of their son and the hopeless Fifteen stories, some contemporary and some historical, where impossibility of going on with their lives, Ken and Zoe embark through humour, sarcasm and bravery accounts pain, old on a journey through the past to relive the most important age, death and love but above all the human stupidity, without moments in the creation of their relationship. concessions, looking straight in the eyes of the difficult balance between life and human misery.
