Treasurer Lynda Scheel GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP First and Third Thursdays of the Month 1:30-3:00pm Beginning in August, Residential Hospice will be hosting a grief support group at the Civic Park Senior Center meeting twice a month. This offers a safe place for adults who have ex- perienced a significant loss to come together and talk. The goal of the group is to provide the opportunity to help understand the grieving process by sharing their story and hear- ing stories of others, and gaining coping skills, companionship, and permission to grieve. The group is led by Kayla Gaddis, Bereavement Coordinator and LLMSW. Please register for this group by calling Residential Hospice Bereavement Department at 1-866-902-5854. The group is free and everyone is welcome.

Come meet at our writing group on Fridays from 10 –11am, December 6th—27th. You get a “prompt” to write about from the facilitator, Joni Gardner. You write for 5 to 20 minutes and then read your piece aloud. The class will provide gentle feedback on your piece. ASK THE LAWYER December 6th & 20th 1:30—3:00pm The clinic will operate at the Civic Park Senior Center. The purpose of “Ask the Lawyer” legal clinics are to offer free, limited legal advice to residents of the State of on a first-come, first-served basis. Legal volunteers cannot file court papers for you or appear in court on your behalf. The do not offer legal representation. Their manner of advocacy is direct assistance, legal advice and counsel, research and scholarship, education, media out- reach, policy development and public programming. Attorneys may charge up to $10.00 for performing each notarial act. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before 3:00pm.

Craughwell at the Civic Park Senior Center. Everybody makes mis- takes, but when an American president blunders, the results can be catastrophic. The Failures of the Presidents takes an in depth look at presidential decisions-making process- es gone wrong. PEWABIC POTTERY GUIDED TOUR, HANDS-ON WORKSHOP & LUNCH AT THE RATTLESNAKE CLUB Friday, February 21st Departure at 9:15am $73.00 residents & $76.00 non-residents Join us for an enjoyable day as we have a docent-led tour of the national historic land- mark Pewabic Pottery building. Afterwards we will head to their workshop studio where you’ll learn the basics of tile-making. They will provide the clay and basic supplies for your hands-on experience. Once we finish, we will make our way for lunch at the Rattle- snake Club. Lunch will consist of a choice of an organic field greens salad or Rattlesnake Caesar salad, house made artisan bread & butter, an entrée choice of roasted organic chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto & parmesan, atop spinach ravioli, saba glaze or boneless beef short ribs braised in smokey BBQ sauce with sweet garlic & parmesan cauliflower smash, rosemary froth, along with a dessert choice of either signature white chocolate ravioli or signature white choco- late ice cream, passion fruit & raspberry purees, macadamia crunch. WINTER WEATHER & SNOW CLOSING In the event of a major snow/ice storm, if Livonia Public Schools are closed, the Civic Park Senior Center will be closed and senior center buses will NOT run! Senior center programs, activities and nutrition services are CANCELED! CIVIC PARK SENIOR CENTER REFUND POLICIES Trips and Events  There are no refunds issued for a trip or event unless your cancelled reservation is filled from a waiting list, sold to the next available registrant or you sell/give the reser- vation to another person.  While every attempt will be made to attend a scheduled trip or event, weather and/or venue issues that require a trip or event to be cancelled will not be refunded, as we are at the discretion of the organization. A “rainout” date will be offered whenever possible and additional fees may apply.  For any trip or event cancelled by the Civic Park Senior Center, a full refund will be is- sued. Mackinac Island “Grand Experience” Trip  Mackinac Island Grand Experience is set by mParks and the Grand Hotel. Full re- funds are given by a specified cut-off date, usually July 31st of the year we attend the “Grand Experience”. Refunds will be given after July 31st if we are able to sell your spot from a waiting list or the first person/couple who sign up after the waiting list has been depleted. (SENIOR CITIZEN ACHIEVEMENT NEEDS) BUS The S.C.A.N. buses provide curb-to-curb rides to residents 62 and over, within the City limit on a donation basis. Rides are available to local shopping districts, grocery stores, Westland Mall (1st & 3rd Thursday 10:30am) and to the senior center. Service hours for the senior center are Monday thru Friday. 1. Senior center: Buses leave from the senior center at 8:30am and we ask that you be ready for pick up by 8:30am. Buses return home 1:00pm Monday–Friday and 3:00pm Mondays, Tuesdays & special event days. 2. Grocery shopping: Monday-Friday (locations vary) depending if you are North or South of 5 Mile Road. See below for shopping locations. Driver will inform riders of the amount of time allowed at the store and pickup location at designated time. 3.
