Between 1855 and 1930, Steinway produced over 200 “fancy pianos” for special customers in the United States and Europe. Customers included the Goulds, Fricks, and Rothschilds. Dezember 2005 das neue Steiermärkische Kultur- und Kunstförderungsgesetz in Kraft und eröffnete eine neue Phase in der steirischen Kulturförderung. Die einzelnen Neuerun- gen sind im Detail auf www.kultur.steiermark.at verzeichnet. Sie schaffen nun auf beiden Seiten Sicherheiten, einerseits für KünstlerInnen und Kultur- veranstalterInnen, andererseits für Politik und Verwaltung: Die Förderungsmöglichkeiten wurden definiert. Spätestens 14 Wochen nach Vorliegen der vollständigen Unterlagen ist eine Entscheidung fällig. Für Förderungen des Landes über 3.500 Euro ist eine Empfehlung des Förderbeirats bzw. der ihm zur Seite gestellten FachexpertInnen einzuholen. Transparenz, Ausgewogenheit und Schwerpunkt auf zeitgenössische Kunst und Kultur sind verpflichtende Ziele. Basisförderungen (also mittelfristige Förder-Vereinbarungen) wurden gesetzlich geregelt. Kunst im öffentlichen Raum (in der sinnvollen Erweiterung von Kunst am Bau) ist eine Pflichtleistung des Landes Steiermark mit einem Fonds, an dem alle Ressorts der Stmk. Landesregierung beteiligt sind. Auch die für steirische Verhältnisse "großen Brocken" (Bühnen, Landesmuseen etc.) sind von diesem Gesetz erfasst. Eine neue Kultur im Umgang miteinander war gefragt und nach eineinhalb Jahren praktischer Erfahrung mit dem neuen Förderungsgesetz, mit insgesamt 1.500 Ansuchen inklusive Erweiterung (!) der Fördervereinbarungen für die Jahre 2007 bis 2009, kann ich sagen: Der Übergang ist fast ausnahmslos ohne Probleme gelungen. Den erfreulich kooperationsfähigen FörderungswerberInnen und dem zuständigen Referat in der A9 - Kulturabteilung danke ich dafür ganz ausdrücklich. -

HENRY KRAMER, piano Biography The winner of the Second Prize at the 2016 Queen Elisabeth Competition and the 2015 William Petschek Recital Debut Award from The Juilliard School, pianist Henry Kramer is establishing himself as one of the most exciting American pianists of his generation. His performances have been praised by critics as “triumphant” and “thrilling” (The New York Times), and “technically effortless” (La Presse, Montreal). A Maine native, Mr. Kramer has also earned top prizes in the 2015 Honens International Piano Competition, the 2011 Montreal International Music Competition, and the 6th China Shanghai International Piano Competition. He was a laureate of the 2017 American Pianist Association Awards, prizewinner in the 8th National Chopin Competition in Miami, and received the 2014 Harvard Musical Association Arthur Foote Award. He is a winner of Astral’s 2014 National Auditions. His first commercial recording, dedicated to the Oratorio Transcriptions of Liszt, was recently released on the NAXOS label. Mr. Kramer has appeared as soloist with orchestras across the globe, including the National Belgian Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Shanghai Philharmonic, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in Ankara, Turkey, the Portland (Maine) Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain du Montreal, and the Yale Philharmonia. She began again in 1982 when she and her daughter both had the same teacher. Nancy has played for her churches in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Fort Lauderdale, and also at a large number of venues in Chicago, including a playathon for the homeless. She has had two solo recitals. She enjoys ' reading, gardening, and bicycling when she's not practicing! She is a mother of three sons and a daughter and two grand-daughters.
