The story of a researcher who believes he has the cure for cancer, a rival pharmaceutical exec who wants to steal it, and a surgeon who needs it to save the woman he loves. “Cancer!” is the brainchild of Tom Donnellon, MD, a cancer survivor and surgeon with HOPE Surgical, who co-wrote the script with his brother and Second City Detroit alum, Shawn Handlon, and Second City Detroit Musical Director John Edwartowski. Kevin Stafford (Ensemble) is an actor/musician from Cincinnati, OH. He’s a writer/ performer for The Untold Story of Indie Rock as well the two-man musical duo, Kindred Throats. Johnny Archer (Understudy) graduated from East Tennessee State University with a major in Theater and a minor in music. He has been in shows such as The Music Man, Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Strange Snow. Cancer ~ The Musical is his first Second City Hollywood show, and he is thrilled to be a part of it.

Tamarra Graham (Understudy) is stoked to be singing in front of an audience that’s not at a karaoke bar. Last fall, she had the opportunity to perform in her first Second City premium show, Hell County, Florida, and now this proud Detroit native is super excited to be working with her fellow hometown-mate, Nancy Hayden, on Cancer. 2 Tony Maccio (Understudy) was raised in the Detroit suburbs and graduated from Michigan State University. Tony is a writer and producer for Yahoo TV’s “TV In No Time” and has studied sketch and improv comedy at UCB and Second City Hollywood. Tony can be seen performing at UCB, iO West, and Second City. Darcy Kendall, (Understudy) though she enjoys a wide variety of other activities, including writing music, going indoor rock climbing, traveling, reading, and drinking tea, Darcy can’t think of anything she’d rather be doing than singing with a bunch of friends on stage at her second home. Cassie Townsend (Understudy) is seeking representation. She was pro-wrestler Nurse Cassie with Ultimate Professional Wrestling, Elaine in the movie Auto Focus, and Patty in 7 Lives Xposed. Currently she tours Renaissance improv troupe No Parchment Needed and plays Penny Euro in Ruiz Must Die. She loves playing video games and sewing. Nancy Hayden (Director) began her improv and sketch career in the mainstage cast of The Second City Detroit where she appeared in five revues. She then became an instructor and director for The Second City, directing productions such as “Jihad It up to Here,” Blah Blah Sista’hood,” and “Yes Weed Can.” Most recently Nancy created, wrote and directed the musical “ArmaGAYddon.”

Chris Garnant (Assistant Director) has taken to The Second City Conservatory like a man in a desert takes to water. From that training he has gone on to perform with Second City at Sea and appears in national commercials and television shows. He continues his journey with the Director’s Program and is extremely grateful to work with such a talented director and cast.

Shawn Handlon (Writer) is an alumnus of The Second City-Detroit. He has also performed with The Second City at Sea aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines ships. He is currently the Artistic Director at Planet Ant Theatre in Hamtramck, Michigan. He also writes for the web series, Guides, named Best Web Series at the 2013 Hollywood & Vine Film Festival.

Thomas Donnellon, (Writer) MD, is a general surgeon and a cancer survivor. He is a graduate of Wayne State University’s School of Medicine in Detroit. He finds he does his best writingin Mexico.

John Edwartowski (Composer/Co-Librettist): John served as the Resident Musical Director for The Second City Detroit from 1999-2009. He earned his B.A. in Music, and his M.M. in Music Theory from Wayne State University, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Music Theory at the University of Michigan.

Brian J Hunt (Ensemble) – A total Bae. Brian hosts a nightly radio show for Denver’s 93.7fm The Rock. He’s also the author of the children’s book “Miracle Miles” and creator of the “Sparks to Fire” comedy show. Kyle McGrath (Ensemble) is a Los Angeles-based writer and performer whose work has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, and The Huffington Post. He performs regularly throughout town at The Second City, Nerdist, UCB, and iOWest. Majeed Nami (Ensemble) is an actor/writer. Carl Tart (Ensemble) was a third string quarterback on the 2010 Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints Practice Squad. Even though he didn’t play in the actual game, he still received a Super Bowl ring. You can ask him to see it. He’ll say no because he sold it on eBay. 5 Keenan Montgomery (Assistant Director) has a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Wyoming, has dabbled in various expressive forms from slam poetry and journalism to hip-hop music and screenwriting. The Minnesota native is now in Los Angeles, learning how to maneuver through traffic. Afros & Ass Whoopins marks his debut with Second City Hollywood.
