Center For Novel Therapeutics Combining World-Class Academic Resources with Best-in-Class Development & Facilities Welcome to Center For Novel Therapeutics SAN DIEGO BioMed Realty in partnership with The University of California San Diego are launching a new initiative by way of the Center for Novel Therapeutics (CNT) to facilitate the transition of research from the laboratory into the clinic and from the campus to the marketplace. CNT will: • promote new personalized therapeutics through research conducted by UC San Diego investigators and private sector collaborators in shared space • create the first academic-industry drug discovery incubator site in San Diego • conduct novel therapeutic, prevention, diagnostic, and imaging intervention-directed research leading to early stage and advanced clinical trials CNT addresses the critical challenges and opportunities of an academic public-private partnership bringing together the necessary multidisciplinary expertise to shorten the time required to bring new interventions to clinical trials. CNT will also be used to train students and post-doctoral fellows in drug discovery, create shared resources and learning forums of mutual interest to academic and private sector scientists, and facilitate the transition of therapies ready and available for early human testing into the clinical arena. CNT will be a unique San Diego region facility dedicated to experimental therapeutics located on the 32 acre Science Research Park campus. CNT will be equally divided among academic and industry tenants, with generous space for shared resources such as a vivarium, conference center, administrative suite and core facilities; it will contain high technology translational research and core laboratories, to study under one roof products discovered and developed through emerging academic/industry partnerships. A Fitness Center and Café will only enhance the opportunities for collaboration and sharing. Clinical testing will be performed via multiple settings in San Diego including the UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute, Moores Cancer Center and UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center. Currently planned UC San Diego occupants reflect CNT’s research themes of translational oncology, immunotherapy, and personalized or targeted therapy. Industry tenants will interact with UC San Diego scientists, and have access to specialized services; however UC San Diego will not be a party to the lease nor influence in any way the proprietary activities being pursued in the space. The building will be owned and operated by BioMed Realty. The desired end product of CNT is a world-class research facility that strives to foster collaboration among laboratory scientists and clinical investigators alike. The building will reflect the social character of translational medicine by providing space for interaction among those with a common goal of understanding human disease and discovering new treatments. Please contact Kevin Tremblay for additional information.
