LIBRARY SEARCH CHALLENGE

The UMA held a search challenge activity on November 11-13th, 2020. Ms. Sablatzky sent out daily questions and all the answers could be found using the library's resources. This was a great way for students to become familiar with the library website and the

resources it offers to students.

The three winners to the challenge were Alexis Jackson, Louisa Idah Oze, and Sahar Fattani. Congrats y’all!

The two honorable mentions to the challenge were Ahmed Mohamed and Caroline Grannum. Way to go!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

One of my greatest accomplishments is creating the Black Student Union at my high school. I attended a predominately white institution and received backlash from faculty members and my classmates. I saw the need for black students on campus to be heard and be seen by the school. I provided a safe environment for students to be unapologetically themselves and discuss local and national issues. I was also awarded the Living For Zachery Scholarship and the Black Students Matter Scholarship. During my short time at Prairie View A&M University, the staff and the students have made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I chose to attend PVAMU because I knew the university could offer me a type of support and happiness I could not find anywhere else. The UMA and the chemistry department are a great deal of that support. I am currently the vice president of the Chemistry Club and have joined other clubs on campus. I hope to expand my knowledge and give back to the school and the community through my participation in extracurricular activities and volunteer work. My post-graduate plan is to attend medical school. Eventually, I plan to pursue my Juris Doctorate degree. The UMA is assisting me in transforming my dreams into reality. I have received so much support from the UMA and other UMA students. It is an incredible feeling to know the people around you believe in what you can accomplish. PVAMU has given me free space to be unapologetically myself. I am truly honored to be here with you all!

Since choosing to further my education at Prairie View A&M University, I have accomplished a great deal. Not only have I attended a number of conferences and received a plethora of awards, but I also have had the opportunity to author my first book. My postgraduation/career plans include attending medical school so that I can gain the necessary tools needed to become a successful doctor. I am in love with the concept of inspiring others through medicine and I plan on continuing to work extremely hard so that I can achieve this goal. As a whole, the combination of the university itself and the Undergraduate Medical Academy has fully prepared me for my academic future. I am truly grateful for all of the information that has been bestowed upon me by so many phenomenal individuals. If I could offer any advice for younger students, it would be to take advantage of every opportunity that is available to you. If the year of 2020 taught me anything, it is that nothing is promised. It is critical to leave nothing on the table.
