SCHROEDER LEADS BY EXAMPLE; CLIMBS INTO CAREER TOP 10: Chad Schroeder has established himself as one of the dominant receivers in the Gulf South Conference. Saturday at Southern Arkansas, Schroeder added another feat to his list, scoring two touchdowns in a game for the first time this season, one rushing and one receiving. The senior wide receiver has scored a touchdown in seven of eight games for the Statesmen. Schroeder also moved into sixth all-time in receptions at Delta State with five against the Muleriders, putting his career mark at 113 in two seasons as a wide receiver after moving from defensive back. Schroeder has 51 receptions for 565 yards and four touchdowns, and his 6.38 catches per game ranks fourteenth in the nation. The Demopolis, Ala., native has also carried the ball 34 times for 125 yards and three touchdowns. He is also a key to the Statesmen’s special teams’ success. With 13 punt returns for 218 yards and a touchdown, Schroeder is 22 return yards away from moving into sixth in a season at Delta State. KING WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE OF ALL-TIME SACKS CHART: Senior linebacker Anthony King has become very well acquainted with the quarterbacks around the Gulf South Conference over the past two years. King has tallied 10.5 sacks over the past two seasons, and needs just 1.5 to climb into the top-12 all-time at Delta State. King has 22 tackles this season, 7.5 for a loss of 29 yards, and leads the team with four sacks for a loss of 24 yards. He also has two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
