1. The appellant M. Latha , is present for today’s enquiry. The Public Authority is represented by (1) Thiru B. Kalitheerthan, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Egmore and (2) Thiru R. Mathiarasan, Inspector of Police, Egmore Police Station, Chennai. 2. The appellant has sent a petition under Section 6(1) of the RTI Act, 2005, on 19-06-2013 addressed to the Asst. Commissioner of Police, Egmore, requesting for information on 8 items regarding the action taken on her complaint dt.21-12-2012. She has made a first appeal under Section 19(1) on 12-08-2013. Her second appeal under Section 19(3) dt.20-02-2014 to this Commission is taken up for today’s enquiry.

During the enquiry, the appellant stated that for her complaint dt.21-12- 2012, she was given CSR No. only on 12-01-2013 and that she had asked for the reasons for this delay in item (ii) of her petition. The Public Authority during the enquiry also admits that there has been a delay and by a letter dt.18-09-2013 2 sent to the appellant they had stated that since the petition was misplaced in the station, CSR No. could not be given on the same day and after the petition was traced on 12-01-2013, CSR No. was given. The appellant’s main grievance is about the delay in issuing the CSR No. This Commission cannot go into the issue of delayed issuance of CSR No. The appellant has to approach the appropriate authorities regarding this aspect.

4. In item (iii) the appellant sought to know about the disposal of FIR No.2212/2012, dt.26/12/2012. The appellant has a copy of the FIR which was registered in F2 Egmore Police Station. The Public Authority says the FIR is not available / not traceable. The FIR Register, produced before this Commission shows that this case is pending with them and no further details have been recorded in that register. The appellant wants to know about the disposal of this FIR. The Public Authority stated that they will verify their records available in the appropriate court and furnish the information. The Public Authority is therefore directed to furnish the information regarding the disposal of the above FIR to the appellant within 10 days from the date of receipt of this order. For other items, available and givable information have been furnished by the Public Authority.
