The southern part of Rajasthan state comprises of a large population of tribal communities belonging to various ethnic groups. The tribal community believe that some Gods and deities can be welcomed by some special plants or their parts. So they conserve some plant species due to the traditional ritual ceremonies. These forest dwellers live in forests and possess a vast knowledge on various aspects of plants. An extensive survey of a few tehsils of Banswara was documented to the traditional knowledge of plants used by tribal communities. Tribals like Ninama, Nanoma, Damor, Garasia, Bhagora, Charpota, Singada and Katara are residing in the area. These people have strong traditions, cultural activities, beliefs, taboos, totems, performing religious rituals and valuable information about properties and medicinal uses of plants. Different parts of plant (roots, stem, leaves, bark, fruits, seeds, bulb, etc.) or the whole plant/herb is used for the said purpose of rituals and ceremonies. In this study deals with the documents of 36 plant species used by the rural people of South Rajasthan in ritual ceremonies are reported.

This court noticed through electronic media of today i.e. 10.08.2015 that stampede took place on 10.08.2015 at about 04:30 a.m., near a temple of Goddess Durga in Belbagan locality which is about 3 k.m far from Baba Baidya Nath Dham Temple, Deoghar. The said fact is also available on e- newspaper, prabhatkhabar.com. 2. According to the report, the tragedy took place when people started trying to jump queue in order to get closer to the temple. In the aforesaid incident about 11 persons have been reported dead and more than 50 persons were injured. 3. Suo Motu cognizance is being taken on the aforesaid news item and following persons are being made as party respondents:- (i). The State of Jharkhand through the Chief Secretary, Jharkhand; (ii). The Dy. Commissioner, Deoghar; (iii). The Director General of Police, Jharkhand; (iv) The Superintendent of Police, Deoghar; (v). The Jharkhand State Hindu Religious Trust Board, Jharkhand; and (vi). The Management Board, Baidyanath Dham Temple, Deoghar. 4. On asking of the Court, Mr. Ajit Kumar, learned Additional Advocate General, appears and accepts notice on behalf of the State. 5. Let notice be issued to the remaining respondents. 6. The respondents are being directed to file their counter affidavits with regard to acknowledge this court about the cause of accident, measures, both interim and final, are being taken for preventing the similar accident in future, about the persons who are responsible for the above accident and the steps which has been taken against them.

    11.13 KARNATAKA 11.13.1 Introduction Karnataka, the seventh largest State of the country, with a geographical area of 1,91,791 sq km accounts for 5.83% of the geographical area of the country. The State is located in the south western region of India and lies between 11°30' N to 18°30' N latitudes and 74°00' E to 78°30' E longitudes and is bordered by Maharashtra and Goa in the North, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the east, Kerala & Tamil Nadu on the South and the Arabian Sea on the West. The State can be divided into two distinct physiographic regions viz the 'Malnad' or hilly region comprising Western Ghats and 'Maidan' or plain region comprising the inland plateau of varying heights. The average annual rainfall varies from 2,000 mm to 3,200 mm and the average annual temperature between 25°C and 35°C. The Western Ghats, which has an exceptionally high level of biological diversity and endemism, covers about 60% of forest area of the State. East flowing rivers in Karnataka mainly Cauvery & Krishna along with its tributaries drain into Bay of Bengal and west flowing rivers mainly Sharavathi & Kali drain into Arabian Sea. The State has 30 districts, amongst which 5 are tribal and 6 are hill districts. As per the 2011 census, Karnataka has a population of 61.13 million, which is 5.05% of India's population. The rural and urban populations constitute 61.43% and 38.57% respectively. Tribal population is 6.96% of the State's population.
