Flag Football
Rules Unique to Lake Pointe Flag Football Down Format • The offensive team takes possession of the ball at its 10-yard line. • The offensive team will have four (4) downs to obtain a first down. A first down is obtained by crossing mid field or scoring a touchdown. U8 ONLY—A first down can be obtained by crossing mid field, scoring a touchdown or crossing the “first down” line on either side of mid field. • On 4th down, a team has two options. 1 A team may play the 4th down to attempt to gain a first down or a touchdown. If a team fails to convert on 4th down (either score or pick up a first down), the ball changes possession at the point of the failed attempt. 2 If a “punt” is selected as the fourth down play, the referee is notified of this choice. The ball is then moved to the 10 yard line and the possession changes. Clock Format • Games consist of two (2) twenty minute halves with a running clock and a 5-minute halftime. • A 45-second play clock will begin after the referee spots the ball ready for play. • Clock stops in the following instances with less than one minute before half-time and the game: - After an incomplete pass - After the ball carrier goes out of bounds - After a touchdown - An extra-point attempt - Official’s time-out - After an interception - During a called time-out until the ball is snapped to begin play • Each team has one (1) 20-second time outs per half. -

TEAMWORK SIMPLY STATED, TEAMWORK WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS! Team Philosophy There are only three things that I ask you to believe in unquestionably. If you believe in these three things then you will be a part of this team no matter what your abilities or talents may be or how many mistakes you may make. Likewise, if you do NOT believe in these three things with all your heart and soul, then you will not be a part of this team no matter what your abilities or talents may be or how perfect you may be. You must believe in: 1. YOURSELF. To be successful in anything you must believe (care, trust, confidence) in yourself. If you do not believe in yourself, no one else will. 2. TEAMATE. You must believe in your team mate. We cannot accomplish anything of great value in life without help. Even Jesus had help; he had 12 team mates; it only took one to betray him and the team. If you have a team mate that you do not believe in, then we must build him up 3. COACHES. Finally, you must believe in your leaders, the coaches for we are apart of the team. After Judas betrayed Jesus and the Jews crucified Him, the apostles denied knowing Him and went into hiding. But their faith in Him reunited them and revived their belief in each other which provided them the courage they needed to dedicate and give their lives to His teachings. Thanks to those faithful 11, the teachings of Jesus live today. Nothing of any great significance was ever accomplished alone. -

Here is your 1961 Montana University football guide, a continuation of the new format that was established in 1959 by the MSU News Service. So far as football guides are concerned, we don’t pretend to compete with the slick printed brochures offered by many schools. This multilithed version is the Montana format for the simple reason that much of the material in any brochure is out of date once the season gets under way. THUNDER BOLT OFFENSE VS 6-2 DEFENSE FORMATION: PRO RIGHT PLAY : PRO RIGHT / 23 TOMAHAWK ( CUTBACK ) HB runs to the 3 gap after a fake hand off and attacks the LB FB takes several steps forward then heads toward the 5 gap. After receiving the hand off, FB makes a sharp and quick cutback into the 3 gap. The Offensive Line Drive blocks, but must also try to move their opponents away from the running lane ( 3 gap ). This will confuse a rushing defense long enough to open a lane for the ball carrier and allow a lane for the HB to attack the LB. This type of a blocking scheme should be fun to use on playes up the middle for the young players. Again, it get's everyone involved in the play.
