Dies erfordert mehr denn je eine multikulturelle und interreligiöse Erziehung in Kindertagesstätten. Angehende Erzieherinnen und Erzieher trauen sich jedoch oft nicht an die religiöse Bildung von Kindern heran. Manche haben den Eindruck, nicht genug über die eigene Konfession zu wissen oder sind sich unsicher über den eigenen religiösen Standpunkt. Es kann dann schwerfallen, das Thema „Interreligiöses Lernen“ aufzugreifen. Die Reihe Weit-sicht – Welt-sicht ist ein Seminarkonzept für die Aus- und Weiterbildung von Erzieherinnen und Erziehern. Sie bietet Anregungen für die Gestaltung eines Seminartags in der Fachschule und Fachakademie für Sozialpädagogik. Das dritte Konzept dieser Reihe beschäftigt sich mit dem Thema „Interreligiöser Dialog“. Es soll das Bewusstsein für die Zugehörigkeit zur christlichen Religion und die Verwur - zelung im eigenen Glauben stärken sowie neugierig machen, auf fremde Kulturen offen zuzugehen. Anhand von Symbolen werden Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede von Christentum und Islam thematisiert. Die Seminargruppe entdeckt die christlichen Feste im Jahreskreis neu und lernt Feste im Islam kennen. In den praktischen Workshops erproben die Studierenden ganzheitliche Methoden der interkulturellen und inter reli- giösen Erziehung im Elementarbereich. Dieses aus Seminartagen für Fachakademien hervorgegangene Konzept hat sich in vielen Veranstaltungen bewährt. So hoffen wir, dass auch Sie durch diese Ausgabe von Weit-sicht – Welt-sicht ermutigt werden, mit der religiösen Bildung von Kindern und dem Dialog der Religionen an Ihrer Einrichtung zu beginnen oder sie zu vertiefen. Während der Veran- staltung wird sowohl in der Großgruppe als auch in Kleingruppen gearbeitet. Hierfür braucht man entsprechende Räumlichkeiten. Beim Einsatz des Kinderpuzzles ist das Arbeiten im Stuhlkreis sinnvoll. Für Bewegungsspiele wird ausreichend Platz benötigt. Material • Fünf gleiche Häuser aus Karton (Bastelanleitung siehe Anhang 1) • Ergänzungsteile für Kirche, Moschee, Synagoge, buddhistischen und hinduistischen Tempel aus Karton (Bastelanleitung siehe Anhang 1) Anleitung Die Karton-Häuser werden in die Kreismitte gestellt. Durch Ergänzungen von Dächern oder Türmen verwandeln sie sich in Gotteshäuser. Nun wird sichtbar, dass die Häuser für die fünf Weltreligionen Judentum, Christentum, Islam, Buddhismus und Hinduismus stehen. Das Ziel des interreligiösen Lernens wird anhand dieser „Häuser der Religionen“ erklärt. Impulse • Was brauche ich, um mich in meinem eigenen Haus wohlzufühlen? • Wie muss ein Haus sein, in dem ich mich als Gast wohlfühle? • Sind die Häuser der einzelnen Religionen alle gleich? • Fühle ich mich in meiner Religion zu Hause? • Ist ein „Haus der Religion“ wichtig für mich? Foto: Kindermissionswerk Foto: Kindermissionswerk „Die Sternsinger“ | 7 Kirche Häuser der Religionen Jedes der fünf Häuser symbolisiert eine der Weltreligionen. Jedes Haus hat seine Eigenständigkeit. Wie die einzelnen Gotteshäuser haben die fünf Religionen jeweils ein klares Profil. Häuser können näher beieinander stehen oder weiter voneinander entfernt sein. Das Haus des Judentums, des Christentums und des Islams lassen sich näher zusammenstellen, weil sie den Glauben an einen Gott gemeinsam haben. Sie werden daher als monotheistische

    Reforming Categories of Science and Religion in the Late Ottoman Empire Kenan Tekin Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 2016 © 2016 Kenan Tekin All rights reserved ABSTRACT Reforming Categories of Science and Religion in the Late Ottoman Empire Kenan Tekin This dissertation shows that ideas of science and religion are not transhistorical by presenting a longue durée study of conceptions of science and religion in the Ottoman Empire. I demonstrate that the idea of science(s) was subject to a tectonic change over the course of a few centuries, namely between the early modern and modern period. Even within a specific epoch, conception of science and religion were in no way monolithic, as evidenced by the diversity of approaches to these categories in the early modern period. To point out continuity and change in the ideas of science and religion, I study classifications of sciences in the early modern Ottoman Empire, by comparing two works; one by Yahya Nev‘î and the other by Saçaklızâde Muhammed el-Mar‘aşî. Nev‘î wrote from the context of the court in Istanbul, while Saçaklızâde represented the madrasa environment in an Anatolian province, thus providing a contrast in their orders of knowledge. In addition, the dissertation includes a study of the concept of "jihat al- waḥda" (aspect of unity) of science, as discussed by commentators from the early modern period. After first providing a textual genealogy, I argue that this concept reveals the dominant paradigm of scientific thinking during this period.

Thus, miswak can be said to be a natural source of material that has many benefits in the improvement of oral health. The miswak extract has been modified and added in toothpaste, mouthwash, endodontic irrigation treatment, and for testing DNA. The miswak is used widely as a tool for brushing teeth and is like or better than a standard toothbrush. Italy still lacks in-depth studies on migrant food habits that also evaluate the ingredients which newcomers use in their domestic culinary and herbal practices. Methods: Semi-structured and open in-depth interviews were conducted with 104 first- and second-generation migrants belonging to the Albanian and Moroccan communities living in Turin and Bra, NW Italy. The sample included both ethnic groups and genders equally. Results: While the number of plant ingredients was similar in thetwocommunities(44plantitems among Albanians vs 47 plant items among Moroccans), data diverged remarkably on three trajectories: (a) frequency of quotation (a large majority of the ingredients were frequently or moderately mentioned by Moroccan migrants whereas Albanians rarely mentioned them as still in use in Italy); (b) ways through which the home country plant ingredients were acquired (while most of the ingredients were purchased by Moroccans in local markets and shops, ingredients used by Albanians were for the most part informally “imported” during family visits from Albania); (c) quantitative and qualitative differences in the plant reports mentioned by the two communities, with plant reports recorded in the domestic arena of Moroccans nearly doubling the reports recorded among Albanians and most of the plant ingredients mentioned by Moroccans representing “medicinal foods”.
