It is used as a live music venue as well as a church, and still belongs to the United Church of the Evangelical Association. Popularly known as Reverend Ike, his ministry peaked in the mid-1970s when his weekly radio sermons were conducted by hundreds of stations across the United States. He was known for his Blessed Plan - radio listeners sent him money, and in return he blessed them. He said it would make the radio listeners who made it more prosperous. He was criticized for his clear interest in financial remuneration. In 1972, The New York Times described his church service: Close your eyes and look at the green, the minister admonished. Money up underarm, room with money, and here you are, just singinging around in it like a pool. The preacher was the Rev. Frederick Ekerenkotter 2d , better known as Reverend Ike - urging several thousand of his devoted parishioners to think positive thoughts. From the red carpet scene that was once the Lion Cinema Palace on 175th Street and Broadway, Reverend Ike sparked giggles from a predominantly black congregation. But they repeated his words obediently during a recent Sunday, as, microphone in hand, he sang: Lots and lots of money ready for my use, yes, he's ready for my use. Reverend Ike bought 175 Lowe's Theater in Washington Heights for more than half a million half a million renamed it the Palace Cathedral - although colloquially it was known as the Prayer Tower of Reverend Ike - and it was completely restored. The restoration included Robert Morton's seven-year-old organ. The Miracle Star of Faith, visible from the George Washington Bridge, heads to the dome of the building. In 2016, the building was recognized as a landmark by the New York City Attractions Commission. Reverend Ike was also the chancellor of the United Church Schools, including the Institute of Life Sciences and Seminary (which awarded him, his wife and son a doctoral degree in living degrees); Institute of Life Business (house thinkonomics); and other educational projects. (quote necessary) Other events Ike made a guest appearance on Hank Williams Jr.'s single Mind Your Own Business, the number one country music hit in December 1986. This song is the only single on the Rev. Ike's chart. In pop culture in December 2005, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's personal assistant, Mae Pang, told the Radio Times: At night he (John Lennon) loved surfing and he picked phrases from all the shows. One day he was watching Reverend Ike, a famous black evangelist, who said, Let me tell you guys, it doesn't matter, that's what makes you through the night. John loved it and said: I must write it down, or I will forget it. He always held a pillow and a pen by the bed. This was the beginning of the song Whatever Gets You thru the Night. The family and death of Ike and his wife, Eula M. Dent, had one son, Xavier Eikeerenkotter. Reverend Ike died in Los Angeles at the age of 74 on July 28, 2009, after not fully recovering from a stroke in 2007. His son gave a moving eulogy at his father's memorial service, comparing his father to Martin Luther King and Malcolm X as a spiritual activist and a resustainer of minds. Xavier subsequently took over the church. Inquiries: b Lehmann-Haupt, Christopher (July 29, 2009). Reverend Ike, who preached wealth, dies at 74. The New York Times. (Frederick Ekerenkotter, Mysteries of Reverend Ike for joy and prosperity, for you) I've heard about it this through Larry Winget's book, Politically Wrong System of Success. I'm glad I did. This author I felt was right in how a believer should think about getting health, joy and prosperity. The author says that we must recognize God in us. I AM. When we use the word I AM, it can be very powerful. For example: I am rich, I am prosperous, I am healthy, I am successful, etc. There is power in putting me before anything positive and declare it. The author also talks about what we learned to be the law of attraction. This is what we keep in our minds we draw into our lives. Correct thinking, produces the right life. The opposite is also true: wrong thinking produces the wrong life.
