Thanks for downloading my guide! You now have one of the most complete guides to awesome wedding songs, all in one place. This guide has two parts. Part 1 has song ideas from my research, client playlists and DJ collection. For each section, I’ve included a link to a Spotify playlist which I continually update so you can easily listen and add favorites to your own playlists. Part 2 contains the most-requested wedding songs from professional wedding DJ clients. Although there are some classics in these lists, you will probably notice many songs here that are over-played. My advice is to avoid any songs that you think are cheesy! Most DJ’s, myself included, have do-not-play lists for their clients. Personally, I would suggest adding the Macarena, Chicken Dance and anything with “Slide” in the title to your do-not-play list. Most Weddings have guests of varying ages so it’s usually a good idea to choose a wide range of music from different time periods. It can be helpful to think of songs by decade or songs that may have been popular when your guests were in high school or college. That said, your event is all about you and what you like, so be sure to choose songs that are meaningful to you and your partner. I hope you enjoy browsing the lists as much as I have enjoyed putting them together. By examining four overarching themes in the literature review - Hip-Hop, raCe, gender and agency - the author used observations of prominent BlaCk female rappers spanning over five deCades, as well as personal experiences, to detail an autoethnographiC aCCount of self-development alongside pursuing a musiC career. MethodologiCally, the author wrote journal entries to detail her experiences, as well as wrote and performed an aCCompanying original mixtape entitled The Thesis (available on all streaming platforms), as a creative addition to the research.
