Th en my aunt died during my cousin’s fi rst year at college. Watching her cope with grief opened my eyes to the need for assistance from her university family. Th rough my research studies at UNT, I uncovered the value of social support for college students experiencing death and discovered how to improve their emotional health. My faculty mentor, Amy Murrell, was instrumental in teaching me research methodology and providing an invaluable opportunity to play a signifi cant role in research as an undergraduate. Th at hands-on experience is why I chose UNT and why I want to pursue a doctoral degree. I want to help others fi nd hope.
