[email protected] CHAPTER 28 Configuring FICON Fibre Connection (FICON) interface capabilities enhance the Cisco MDS 9000 Family by supporting both open systems and mainframe storage network environments. Inclusion of Control Unit Port (CUP) support further enhances the MDS offering by allowing in-band management of the switch from FICON processors. The fabric binding feature helps prevent unauthorized switches from joining the fabric or disrupting current fabric operations (see Chapter 38, “Configuring Fabric Binding”). The Registered Link Incident Report (RLIR) application provides a method for a switch port to send an LIR to a registered Nx port.
