August, 2005 Re: The Evolution of The Pilates Method: The Fletcher Work™ To Whom It May Concern, The Fletcher Work is the authentic evolution of the Pilates’ method. To be accurate and legitimate, any journalistic inquiry into contemporary Pilates must necessarily include this dynamic contribution. On behalf of The Ron Fletcher Company, I encourage you to take time to review the enclosed materials. Pilates is more than a contemporary fitness phenomenon. It is an extraordinarily effective conditioning method — nearly a century in development — whose time has finally come. Joseph Pilates’ original principles were absolutely sound, yet his wife, Clara, referred to her husband’s original work as “just the tip of the iceberg.” The development and evolution of the Pilates method over the last 35 years has been, in large part, the result of the work and vision of Ron Fletcher, their protégé and student for nearly three decades. Since Joseph PIlates’ death in 1968, no other individual has played a more pivotal role in the evolution and popularity of the Pilates method. Now in his eighties, Mr. Fletcher is one of only three such masters still teaching the Work. Should you have any questions regarding the enclosed information, or should you wish to pursue a related project, please do not hesitate to contact me. In addition to being one of the great luminaries of the Pilates world, Ron Fletcher is also very much alive, well and active… and he’s a great interview. Sincerely, Kyria Sabin encl The Ron Fletcher Company™ . POB 64971 . Tucson, AZ 85728-4971 . 520.323.7070 . -

Sugar Babies - the Quintessential Burlesque Show
SEPTEMBER,1986 Vol 10 No 8 ISSN 0314 - 0598 A publication of the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust Sugar Babies - The Quintessential Burlesque Show personality and his own jokes. Not all the companies, however, lived up to the audience's expectations; the comedians were not always brilliant and witty, the girls weren't always beautiful. This proved to be Ralph Allen's inspiration for SUGAR BABIES. "During the course of my research, one question kept recurring. Why not create a quintessen tial Burlesque Show out of authentic materials - a show of shows as I have played it so often in the theatre of my mind? After all, in a theatre of the mind, nothing ever disappoints. " After running for seven years in America - both in New York and on tour - the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust will mount SUGAR BABIES in Australia, opening in Sydney at Her Majesty's Theatre on October 30. In February it will move to Melbourne and other cities, including Adelaide, Perth and Auckland. The tour is expected to last about 39 weeks. Eddie Bracken, who is coming from the USA to star in the role of 1st comic in SUGAR BABIES, received rave reviews from critics in the USA. "Bracken, with his rolling eyes, rubber face and delightful slow burns, is the consummate performer, " said Jim Arpy in the Quad City Times. Since his debut in 1931 on Broadway, Bracken has appeared in Sugar Babies from the original New York production countless movies and stage shows. Garry McDonald will bring back to life one of Harry Rigby, happened to be at the con Australia's greatest comics by playing his SUGAR BABIES, conceived by role as "Mo" (Roy Rene). -

Lewis, 59, was rushed to Katherine hospital. His family issued a statement on Friday morning: “It is with tremendous sadness that we confirm the sudden passing of TE Lewis late last night at his home in Katherine, Northern Territory. “Mr Lewis will be forever remembered for his compelling and enduring work on stage and screen over 40 years, as a renowned musician, and as the driving force and vision behind Djilpin Arts with his partner and his extended family of Beswick and Arnhem Land communities. He will be greatly missed. “The family of Mr Lewis ask for privacy during this time. However, in recognition of his extraordinary public life, they have agreed to the use of his image and voice.” Lewis shot to fame at a young age playing the handsome, compelling lead in Fred Schepisi’s 1978 film The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, and appeared in dozens of Australian films and series over his long career, including the miniseries A Town Like Alice (1981) and We of the Never Never (1985). She was called a genius and a liar and was not one to shy away from bold political views. Despite being from an earlier era, Watch on the Rhine is as relatable today as when it was written and equally potent. This piece ferociously addresses the rise of fascism and the importance of standing in your own truth, even if it makes you an outsider. Truly a force to be reckoned with, Hellman did not waiver in her political stance and continued to be a leader of the feminist movement despite popular opinion. I appreciate that boldness and tenacity. -
