Head Baseball Coach Ron Riggle is currently in his 22nd season on the coaching staff for the Loggers and his 10th season as head coach. In addition to his coaching duties, Ron has served as the college’s athletic director since 1997. In this role, he takes a keen interest in the success of each athletic program at the college, working diligently to attract and retain gifted, hard-working student athletes to LLCC.

While coaching at Lincoln Land, Ron has been a driving force in the continued success of the program, including the national championship teams in 1994 and 2000 and the 1993 and 1995 NJCAA national tournament teams. During Ron’s LLCC coaching career, the Loggers have won more than 600 games.

Ron’s expertise and enthusiasm are built on the foundation of his own successes as a student athlete in both high school and college. A former Springfield High School All- City , he still holds a number of city records including a perfect 0.00 ERA record for All-City performances. Ron won a record 13 games as a senior at Springfield High School. He also won 14 games as a starter for the Loggers during the 1987 and 1988 seasons at LLCC. After Lincoln Land, Ron went on to pitch for Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He pitched on the team that won back-to- back Big South Conference championships in 1989 and 1990.

Ron and his wife, Angie, currently reside in Springfield and are the proud parents of Seth (17), Noah (15), Connor (14) and Becca (5).

JUSTIN KNOEDLER Assistant Baseball Coach Justin is entering his second year as a coach for the Loggers. He has been affiliated with the baseball program for the past 12 years in multiple capacities. Justin is a local native and a graduate of Springfield High School. He attended Lincoln Land from 1999-2000 along with his twin brother, Jason. They helped lead the Loggers to their second national championship in 2000 in which Justin was also named NJCAA Player of the Year. After LLCC, Justin attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, for one year and was then drafted in the fifth round of the draft by the . He made his Major League debut in September of 2004 with the Giants. Justin caught 10 seasons in for six different MLB organizations, including the Giants, A’s, Cardinals, Marlins, White Sox and Dodgers. Justin currently holds the LLCC career home record of 34 and was inducted into the LLCC Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.

Justin brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to the program on a more permanent basis. Justin has always assisted the Loggers in his off seasons in the past as he prepared for his own playing season. He primarily works every day with the hitters and catchers and also plays a vital role in the development of the in-season and off- season strength and conditioning programs. He is currently a personal trainer and private instructor at Body Symmetry. Justin resides in Chatham with his wife, Ann, and two dogs, Kramer and Cooper.

www.llcc.edu/athletics 3 DANNY MCGEE Assistant Baseball Coach Danny is in his 10th season as a coach for the Loggers. Danny will work with the catchers and hitters at LLCC. He played at Lincoln Land in 1998-99. After LLCC, he went to Western Illinois University and played for two seasons.

ERIC WEAVER Assistant Baseball Coach For the past 18 years, Eric has been involved in LLCC baseball and this is the ninth year he is coaching at LLCC. He graduated from Illiopolis in 1991 where he played football, and baseball. He was selected to the All-State team in basketball in 1991. In the spring of 1991, he signed with the LA Dodgers and spent seven years with the Dodgers, then went on to Seattle, Anahiem, and Philadelphia. He spent one and a half years in the major leagues with the Dodgers, Seattle and Anaheim. His professional baseball career lasted 12 years. Eric is currently employed at Bank of Springfield. He has been married to Erica for 17 years and has two children, Tristan (13) and Nicole (9).

4 Lincoln Land Community College JEN SHURTZ, MS, ATC Certified Athletic Trainer, AthletiCare Jen begins her first year as the athletic trainer for the Loggers. She is employed by St. John’s Hospital/AthletiCare. She comes to Springfield from the Bloomington area, after spending two years with Normal Community High School and two years with Olympia High School. Jen received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in athletic training from Illinois State University. Prior to attending ISU, Jen played volleyball for two seasons at Lincoln Christian College (now Lincoln Christian University).

He lettered in baseball three years and was named first team All Central State Eight his junior and senior years. In 2010, he was named Lincoln Courier Player of the Year. His senior year he played in the Illinois Coaches Association All-Star game and The Pantagraph All-Star game. He played in the State Journal-Register All-Star game his junior and senior years. Ryan holds the record for single season at bats, most hits and wins and is the school leader in career wins. Ryan plans to attend a four-year university and continue playing baseball. His favorite sports team is the Chicago Cubs.

Tyler plans to study business at the University of Illinois at Champaign, and would like to be a pharmaceutical sales rep. His favorite sports teams are the Chicago Cubs, the Denver Broncos and the Houston Dynamo.

Cory plans to continue his education and enter a physical therapy doctorate program. His favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Heat.

His senior year, he was named second team Mississippi Valley All-Conference. His high school team won two consecutive sectional titles and three consecutive regional titles. While at LLCC, he hopes the baseball team will go to nationals. Brendan plans to continue his education and play baseball at a four-year university. His favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, the Baltimore Colts and the Chicago Bulls.

MIKE FITZGERALD #16 Sophomore • Outfield• 6’1”• 205 lb. Parents: Leann & Mike Fitzgerald Major: Sports Management Mike graduated from Rochester High School in 2009. He lettered in baseball three years. He was named first team Sangamon Valley Conference his junior and senior years and received honorable mention as a sophomore. He played in the State Journal- Register All-Star game his junior and senior years and was named Most Valuable Player as a senior. Mike was selected to play in the Illinois Coaches Association East/West All-Star game. His freshman year at LLCC, he was named MWAC first team All-Conference, first team All-Region and NJCAA third team All-American. Michael plans to attend Indiana State University to continue his education and play baseball. His favorite sports teams are the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. KYLE FORSYTHE #14 Sophomore • Infield • 5’6” • 150 lb. Parents: Michael & Shannon Forsythe Major: Criminal Justice Kyle graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 2010. He was chosen for the first team All-Sangamon Conference and first team All-Area his junior and senior years. He played in the State Journal-Register All-Star and Illinois Coaches Association All-Star baseball games his senior year. As a freshman at LLCC, Kyle received the Rawlings Gold Glove Award. He plans to attend a four-year university, play baseball and one day become a police officer. Kyle’s favorite sports teams are the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.

In baseball, he was named All-Conference his junior and senior years. His senior year, he was an All-State selection and named the Central State Eight Player of the Year. His junior year, the baseball team placed second at the state championship and his senior year they won the IHSA class 3A state championship. Jake has a record 26 career homeruns. Jake earned three varsity letters in football while at Chatham, was named All-Conference and led the CS8 in tackles his senior year. He attended Illinois State University and red-shirted in baseball before transferring to LLCC. Jake would like to teach and coach baseball or football. His favorite sports teams are the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Bulls.

He was a three-year varsity starter in baseball. His senior year he was named Mississippi Valley All-Conference and was named second team All-Area by the Belleville News Democrat. He was named Pitcher of the Year by his summer league team and was named to the American Legion Missouri-Illinois All-Star team. Nick plans to attend a four-year university to further his studies and continue playing baseball. He would like to have a career in the sports field. His junior year, they won the state championship and a highlight for Jake was hitting a home run in that game. In Jake’s senior year, he was named All-Conference and his team made it to the super-sectionals. Jake would like to continue his education at Arizona State University and work in the stock market. JORDAN MCGINNIS #34 Freshman • Pitcher • 6’3” • 180 lb Parents: Mark & Karla McGinnis Major: Biology Jordan is a 2011 graduate of Altamont High School. He received several pitching awards his junior and senior years. As a junior, he was awarded the Gold Glove award and his senior year he was named National Trail Conference honorable mention. He plans to continue his studies at a four-year university, earning a degree in conservation biology. His favorite sports teams are Syracuse and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

His senior year he was named Central State Eight All-Conference, played in the State Journal-Register All-Star game and was named MVP pitcher. #4 DANNY REISER Freshman • Pitcher • 5’10” • 165 lb. Parents: Tim & Linda Reiser Major: Architecture Danny is a 2011 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. He competed in baseball, soccer and basketball. He was a team captain in all three sports. For three years, he was named first team All-Conference and played on the IHSA Class 1A-2A State Journal- Register All-Star baseball team. Twice he competed in the Elite 8 and Sweet Sixteen tournaments. His senior year he was named first team All-State in Class 2A baseball. Dan won several awards for defense/hustle in soccer and basketball. He plans to continue his education and after graduation work with his father, Tim Reiser, in the construction/building industry. His favorite sports team is the St. Louis Cardinals.

Bryce was named to the 2010 Central State Eight All-Conference first team. As a freshman at LLCC, his record was 7-1 and he received All-Conference honorable mention. Bryce plans to attend Southern Illinois University-Carbondale to continue his education and play baseball.
