The award is a symbol of overall athletic excellence in Conference- sponsored championships. Since the new format was adopted six years ago, the Panthers have won three of the six OVC Commissioner’s Cups while placing second the other three years. DAVID M. GLASSMAN EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT David M. Glassman is the 12th president of Eastern Illinois University taking over the position in June of 2015. He came to EIU after serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs at EIU Board of Trustees Bradley University, a private university located in Peoria, Ill. Mr. Rene M. Hutchinson - Chairperson Dr. Robert D. Webb - Vice Chairperson Glassman has experience with both private and public institutions Dr. Jan Spivey Gilchrist - Secretary of higher education, having spent 19 years (1985-2004) as a faculty Mr. Kristopher Goetz - Member Pro-Tem member, associate dean and chair of the Anthropology Department Mr. Joseph R. Dively at Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas), in San Marcos. Mr. Roger L. Kratochvil His tenure as a professor of anthropology and Dean of the College of Mr. Timothy Burke Liberal Arts at the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, followed Ms. Lauren Price - Student Representative (2004-2010), and he arrived at Bradley University as provost and vice president for academic affairs later in 2010. University Vice Presidents He earned both a master’s degree and doctorate in anthropology from the University Dr. Dan Nadler - Student Affairs of Tennessee, Knoxville, after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Bob Martin - University Advancement Minnesota. Dr. Blair Lord - Provost Paul McCann - Interim Business TOM MICHAEL EASTERN ILLINOIS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Tom Michael was formally introduced as the 10th full-time athletic director in Eastern Illinois University history on July 22, 2014 and began his role on August 11. He comes to EIU after serving as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Illinois "Tom Michael's experience, integrity, and commitment to the Athletic Administration academic development of student-athletes are excellent," stated EIU Mark Bonnstetter - Senior Associate AD Rich Moser - Associate AD/Media President William Perry. " I am very pleased he is joining the EIU John Smith - Associate AD/Major Gifts family." Ryan Hastings - Assistant AD/Development "We are excited to begin the next chapter in Eastern Illinois Dave Kidwell - Assistant AD/Special Projects Panther Athletics with Tom Michael as our new athletic director," said Dan Nadler, EIU Vice President for Student Affairs. Over the course of the phone and on-campus interviews you could see that Tom is someone that will be totally committed to the academic and athletic development of EIU's student-athletes." Michael has worked as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Illinois since 2012. He is currently overseeing the renovations to the State Farm Center. Michael joined the Illinois athletic department in 1996 as an academic counselor. He has worked for the past 12 years in administration serving as both an associate athletic director and assistant athletic director for student services. In addition to his current role in the State Farm Center renovation Michael oversees Academic Services, Equipment, Event Management, Sports Medicine and Strength and Conditioning for the athletic department. "I am thrilled to be named the Director of Athletics at Eastern Illinois University. It is with great anticipation that I look forward to working with the coaches, staff and student-athletes involved with EIU Panther Athletics," said Michael. I feel the 18 years of employment and four years as a student-athlete at the University of Illinois, have prepared me for this opportunity. I leave Illinois with a tremendous amount of respect for the training and experiences it has provided for me both as a Division I student-athlete and as a Division I athletic administrator." Michael received both his bachelor's degree (1993) and master's degree (1994) from Illinois. He played four years for the Fighting Illini basketball program from 1991-94 helping the team make two trips to the NCAA Tournament. He was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten Selection and holds the Illinois single season record for 3-point field goal percentage. Following his playing days Michael worked in his family's business prior to joining the staff at Illinois in 1996. The Cavaliers sported a four- game win streak heading into the game against East Alton-Wood River. Though struggling for a tad in the first quarter, the Cavaliers were able to pull away from the Oilers in a 56-27 decision at the CHS gymnasium. Carlinville (9-4) has won five straight heading into Tuesday’s clash with Greenfield/Northwest- ern (see story from Tuesday on enquirerdemocrat.com). Grace Zachary opened the game by hitting a pair of jumpers in the first minute of the game, but the Cavaliers then struggled shooting from the field the rest of the quarter. Carlinville forced nine first quarter turnovers against the Oil- ers and built a 7-2 lead. East Alton-Wood River got within 7-5 on a free throw by Carly Campbell and a jumper by Abbie Cathey.
