List of partners 45 WP2 / GoA2.5 / Pre-study report on economic June/2019 determinants for innovative rural mobility solutions Pre-study report on economic determinants for innovative rural mobility solutions Introduction Aim and scope This report is a part of the project Maximised Mobility and Accessibility of Services in Regions Affected by Demographic Change (MAMBA) and describes the economic determinants and risks that have an impact on the mobility in rural areas. It will serve as a basis for new mobility solutions, which will be implemented by the project partners in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). During the preparation of this report, information from the Inventory of Innovative Mobility Solutions1 was used to evaluate and review the business models that have been tested in previous mobility projects. Additionally, earlier elaborated socio-economic profiles and business canvases2 have been used to characterize the external and internal economic factors in partner regions that have an impact on the implementation of mobility solutions. The primary objective of this report is to provide the project partners with a comprehensive knowledge base on the economic potentials and risks during the implementation phase of innovative rural mobility solutions. Additionally, the report serves as background information for others involved in the planning and development process of similar transport solutions in rural areas. Necessity of the pre-study The limited accessibility of public transport in rural areas and changes in lifestyle require citizens, administrations and decision-makers to search for new approaches to solving mobility challenges. Moreover, the development of information and communication technology (ICT) throughout the past decade(s) and decreasing costs of digital technologies are important factors contributing to the pervasion of innovative and flexible mobility solutions. These developments call for economic assessments of rural mobility innovations both for the MAMBA partnership and beyond. 1 The Inventory of Innovative Mobility solutions is an internal MAMBA output. We would like to do even more to visualize the art experiences in our festival and make them more accessible to our audience. Therefore, we have chosen to show art in seven Art Zones. Each Art Zone has its own aesthetics and history - places where people meet, hang out or pass by. The seven art zones have different hosts, and they will each get different expressions that appeal to different people. We are looking for art projects that work site-specific and who will explore the festival theme ’MOVE’. We wish that some of the projects involve the audience, but it is not a requirement for all projects. The Seven Art Zones The Manor House Sønderskov offers a special aesthetic experience with historical depth. The beautiful frames invite art projects that awaken curiosity. The Town Square ’Gravene’ The square is located in the part of Haderslev, which houses the oldest central districts near Haderslev Cathedral. The place is full of history and invites to art projects that experiment with the possibilities of the place. The Library Park The place is a recreational city oasis for the citizens. It has been created each year since 2016 in front of Kolding Library for a few weeks in late summer. Invites projects that surprise and experiment with creating new rooms in the city. The Mental Hospital (Teglgårdsparken) The former mental hospital in the city of Middelfart invites to a cultural day focused on psychiatry in fascinating historical frameworks.

    Sustainable Development and Planning X 225 RESILIENT VEJLE: A CASE STUDY WALTER UNTERRAINER Aarhus School of Architecture, Denmark ABSTRACT The city of Vejle in Denmark with 60.000 inhabitants is the smallest and also the only Nordic city which became part of the “100 Resilient Cities Network”, pioneered globally by the Rockefeller Foundation. Its insignificant size in comparison to other cities and metropolises like Paris, Milan, Lagos, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Boston or Mexico City determines Vejle as a small scale laboratory for testing resilient strategies: Decision making processes and implementation of new policies as well as unavoidable spatial transformation can go faster and are stronger and more directly connected to citizen involvement compared to Vejle’s much bigger fellow cities. Vejle is particularly vulnerable at risk of flooding which happens repeatedly and according to predictions, large parts of the city might be under water by 2100. At the periphery of the city centre, a large and 60 years old rubbish dump is an unpredictable toxic threat as well as a potential quality space for inhabiting many new citizen, potentially taking pressure from a scarce housing market. Furthermore, the city has exemplary social policies in relation to immigrants or homeless, which makes it a magnet for the latter. The author is member of an advisory board for “Resilient Vejle”, where he represents Aarhus School of Architecture since 2015. The paper is a case study which documents and illustrates how evidence based student projects with integration of citizen activation can have an impact in resilient thinking. The range of outcomes is very wide: from speculative projects, transformative architectural proposals to students building in 1:1, using material and components of a demolished building for a “pavilion for resilience”.

Są one jednym z istotnych czynników kształtujących wielofunkcyjność gmin wiej- skich. Analiza funkcjonowania takiej strefy w gminie Wilkowice w latach 2006–2018 jest celem niniejszej publikacji. Przedstawiono także czynniki rozwoju gminy Wilkowice w przeszłości. Gmina położona malow- niczo na obszarze Bramy Wilkowickiej, na zboczach Beskidu Śląskiego i Małego, rozwijała się dzięki swo- im walorom turystycznym i tradycjom uzdrowiskowym. W warunkach gospodarki rynkowej rozwój funkcji turystycznej został zahamowany. Poszukując nowych czynników ożywienia gospodarki, władze gminy roz- poczęły prace nad uruchomieniem strefy gospodarczej położonej z dala od terenów mieszkaniowych i tury- stycznych. Zaprojektowano strefę o powierzchni około 15 hektarów, wybudowano drogę o długości 1528 m wyposażoną w niezbędne media oraz z dogodnym dojazdem do trasy szybkiego ruchu S-1. W strefie w latach 2011–2018 funkcjonowało 15 nowych zakładów przemysłowych, a kolejne są w budowie. Efekty gospodar- cze wynikające z działalności zakładów w strefie, w której jest zatrudnionych około 2 tys. osób, stanowią podstawę do dalszego stałego i zrównoważonego rozwoju gminy, wpływając pośrednio na zintensyfikowanie turystyki poprzez modernizację infrastruktury, powstanie nowych obiektów noclegowych oraz organizację imprez turystycznych.
