They say that men want to be Batman, but I was never, ever happier to be Superman! This issue is dedicated to Superman, of course. I grew up loving Plastic Man and The Flash, and Captain Marvel (who I always called Shazam, only to be corrected, but who is now called Shazam!), but Superman was, well, Superman. He could be a boring fuddyduddy, while Batman was always cool and anti-establishment, SUperman always played by the rules. Still, there is something magical about Superman that has allowed him to be re- imagined so often. It details the creation of the character and subsequent growth into multiple mediums. Weisinger’s greatest contribution to the hero was an extended mythology and spin-off comic series.
