SHERIFF SCOFFLOCK / MARSHALL TOW PROGRAM What to Do if Your Vehicle is Seized If you do not find your vehicle where you parked it, and you have over $230.00 of outstanding Parking Violation judgements, your vehicle may have been seized by the New York Police Department, Office of the Sheriff or by a New York City Marshal. To find out if your car has been towed you should first call the Police Precinct from which your car was towed. The precinct will inform you if the Sheriff or a Marshal has towed your car. You must go to the Marshal or Parking Violations Redemption site to pay and redeem your vehicle. 1. If your vehicle was seized by the Office of the Sheriff go to the Borough Parking Violations Bureau Help or Payment and Adjudication Center listed below to make payment Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If your vehicle was seized by a Marshal and you do not want a hearing, you must go to the Marshal’s office that seized your car and not to the Parking Violations Office. The Marshals only accept cash and/or certified checks. 2. Make payment in cash or by certified check made payable to the "Office of the Sheriff" or by using the Discover Card of the owner of the vehicle only. The total amount that you will be required to pay is computed as follows: (You can call 212 - 477-4430 to find out your judgement amount) A. Judgement amount $ ______ B. Tow fee $ 150.00 C. Execution Fee $ 45.00 D. Sheriff’s Storage fee @ $10/ day -or- Marshall’s Storage fee @ $15/day $ ______ (After the Tow Date) E. Total (add A -to- D) $ ______ F. Poundage (5% of "total") $ ______ G. Total Due (add A -to- F) $ ______ 3. Establish proof of ownership of the vehicle. Present the original title or registration, only - no copies. 4. Present a valid driver's license.
