Later in the season on Jan. 19, NAU will take its annual conference trip to Portland State.

O CANADA • Redshirt sophomore Jacey Bailey may have sat out last season after trans- ferring to NAU from Florida Atlantic, but she did have the opportunity to play competitive basketball in April. • Bailey, a native of Burnaby, BC, Canada, was selected to Team Canada for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. • She recorded 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists in 51 minutes of action across five games. She made a three-pointer and also connected on both of her free throw attempts. Team Canada posted a 2-3 record at the Games.

Non-Conference Tests • The Lumberjacks’ opening march to March will be a challenging one as NAU has potentially five postseason teams on its non-conference schedule. NAU will also play six of nine non-conference games on the road. • NAU will face one NCAA Tournament team (Seattle), two WNIT teams (Col- orado State and New Mexico) and one WBI team (Fresno State). The ’Jacks could also face Robert Morris, a third WNIT qualifer, at the LMU Thanksgiv- ing Classic. • The Lumberjacks also has two road contests against Pac-12 schools (Wash- ington and Arizona).

TRANSFER INFUSION • In rebuilding a roster devoid of talent, head coach Loree Payne has gone to the transfer wire since taking over the Lumberjack program. • Four expected pieces of NAU’s rotation this season started their collegiate careers elsewhere and two more on the horizon after redshirting this season due to NCAA transfer rules. • Senior Tate Tsingine (Central Arizona College) already made her NAU de- but last season. In her first season at NAU, Tsingine started six games and averaged 4.1 points per game. • The Lumberjacks will be boosted by the additions of redshirt sophomores Jacey Bailey (Florida Atlantic) and Caitlin Malvar (Puget Sound). Both Bai- ley and Malvar sat out last season. Bailey and Malvar combined to start 37 games at their previous institutions as true freshmen. • This summer, Payne brought in three more transfers in Ajai Simmons (Illinois State), Nina Radford (UC Santa Barbara) and Molly Rohrer (CSU-Pueblo). While Radford and Rohrer will need to sit this season, Sim- mons’ waiver was approved by the NCAA allowing her to play immediately in 2018-19.
