CS-18-499 Chairperson and Community Board Members PARAPARAUMU/RAUMATI COMMUNITY BOARD 8 MAY 2018 Meeting Status: Public Purpose of Report: For Decision CONSIDERATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING PURPOSE OF REPORT 1 Four applications for funding have been received: Kapiti Chinese Language Academy Charitable Trust Kapiti College – Ecuador/Galapagos Islands Trip Kapiti Table Tennis Club Piripoho Playgroup DELEGATION 2 The Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board has delegated authority as at section D of the Governance Structure approved by Council on 20 October 2016: Approving criteria for, and disbursement of, community-based grant funds as approved through the LTP or Annual Plan. BACKGROUND 3 An amount of $21,850 is provided in the 2017/18 budget for the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board and grants are funded from that budget. 4 Accountability reports on grants allocated are required two months after the event or activity for which the grant was awarded takes place. CONSIDERATIONS Policy considerations 5 Grants are allocated in accordance with established criteria (attached to this report as Appendix 1). Applications to the Community Grants Fund Kapiti Chinese Language Academy Charitable Trust 6 Funding of $500 is sought to assist with the costs to run Chinese Language classes each weekend at the Kapiti Community Centre. 7 This activity can be considered under Eligible Purpose 2: Special project or activity and Eligible Purpose 5: The remission of hall rental. Page 1 of 6 3886817 CS-18-499 Kapiti College – Ecuador/Galapagos Islands Trip 8 Funding of $500 is sought to assist with the costs for 16 students to travel to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands with Operation Wallacea, a conservation research organisation. 9 This activity can be considered under Eligible Purpose 2: Special project or activity. Kapiti Table Tennis Club 10 Funding of $500 is sought to assist with the costs associated with financing social interclub and club championship events that fall outside the usual club days. 11 This activity can be considered under Eligible Purpose 2: Special project or activity. Piripoho Playgroup 12 Funding of $500 is sought to assist with the costs associated with setting up and running a new playgroup for Kapiti Whanau. 13 This activity can be considered under Eligible Purpose 2: Special project or activity and Eligible Purpose 5: The remission of hall rental. Financial considerations 14 An amount of $21,850 is provided in the 2017/18 budget for the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board and grants are funded from that budget. 15 The balance remaining in the 2017/18 budget for allocation is $2,092.86. 16 The total of applications under consideration in this report is $2,000. 17 There is one more Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board meeting in the current financial year. 18 To date in the 2017/18 year, grants have been made as follows: Date Recipient Amount Purpose of Grant Report Back 01-08-17 Georgia Wickens $250 To assist with the cost for Georgia to Received participate in the Raumati Beach School’s 17-12-17 trip to Samoa in November 2017. 01-08-17 Zane Ainslie $500 To assist with the cost for Zane to attend Received the NZ Under 16 Mixed Touch Team’s 17-01-18 2017 Development Tour, being held on the Gold Coast in September 2017. 01-08-17 Kapiti College Boys $63.25 To cover the cost of the Special Licence Received Hockey required for the Hockey Team’s 29-08-17 fundraising quiz night, being held on 22 July 2017. 01-08-17 Loved 4 Life $500 To assist with the costs of providing a Received quilt, knitted garments and meals to the 26-10-17 families of newborn babies. The event is being held on 29 September 2017. 01-08-17 Presentation Sisters $500 To assist with the cost of hiring the Received Paraparaumu Memorial Hall for the 26-10-17 Presentation Sisters Mission Gala, being held on 29 and 30 September 2017. 01-08-17 Waikanae Estuary Care $500 To assist with the costs to build fencing at Received Group the Group’s new site in Hana Udy Place. 13-02-18 01-08-17 Whirlwind $500 To assist with the costs of providing Received community mental health support for men. 06-12-17 12-09-17 Zoe Boyd $455 To assist with the cost of competing in the Received Australian National Cheerleading 10-01-18 competition, being held in Sydney in November 2017. 12-09-17 Kapiti Basketball $500 To assist with the costs of competing in Received Association the Basketball New Zealand regional 09-01-18 tournament, being held in the Hawkes Bay in October 2017. 12-09-17 Kapiti Concert Orchestra $500 To contribute towards the costs of hiring Received music for the concert being performed on 01-12-17 18 November 2017. 12-09-17 Kapiti Pony Club $500 To assist with the cost of relocating their Due December amenities to new club grounds, and to add 2017 clubrooms, clear gorse, build fences and toilet facilities. LIQUIDATION 05-12-17 Kapiti Community Patrol $259.99 To purchase a Garmin Drivesmart 51 Received (Navman) for the KCP patrol car, in order 19-12-17 to keep up to date with new street developments. 05-12-17 Coastella Community $500 To assist with the cost of getting visiting Received Music Initiative artists from the Coastella Music Festival to 11-04-18 provide workshops at primary schools on the Kapiti Coast. 05-12-17 Kapiti Coast Rugby $500 To assist with the cost of paying for the Due League Club (2004) Inc fields at Matthews Park, Raumati, which February 2018 are used for the 2017/18 Horowhenua Kapiti Tag Season.
