A cop who eats bits of people to find out how crimes were committed in a post-avian flu ravaged world where chicken is outlawed and vampires wander about, intergalactic flame writing fills the skies, and Poyo, a fighting Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 with cybernetic implants, is so cool and badass he could give James Bond a run for his money? And yet - 8 volumes in! The usual foodie craziness ensues in this volume my favourite being the Pastransformers! Pretty odd stuff. Stoned Tony and John are super-funny — they become a rabbit and a fox in their minds — especially when they raid the pillow factory! And Chew Volume 8 is brilliant. The tone shifts back to its very core: light, funny and crazy entertaining. Thanks to Toni Chew's poat mortem hologhost, things are way happier than the last chapter. It is great to see how Toni in her point of view handles her incoming death with a sort of happy send-off to those she holds dear. Cheerful and practical, she is no less crazy than her twin bro Tony, as she chomps healthy servings of fresh flesh off people. With Toni around, glimpses of the future is revealed either to the readers or secretly only to Tony Chew, which simply Layman's way of saying 'stay with us until the end, bastards'. And we will. This leads to many completely ridiculous sequences of hallucination, food weirdos and food-themed goon squads, which kept me amused and wondering "where the hell do these guys keep getting these increasingly bizarre concepts for food as villainous inspiration? This book feels a little diversionary, despite the fact that the plot is most definitely escalating and moving forward. In fact, we learn something key about the alien sky writing that I wasn't expecting to find out until much later in the run of this tale, and which probably means there's even more juicy surprises afoot for us in the next few books. I can see however where some folks might find this frustratingly slow and off-track - there's more fun being had here than grinding the plot forward, and if you're not just enjoying the ride but want to see this wrapped up already, it could be a little exhausting watching these characters keep poking at the nooks and crannies of this universe. Sign me up for the food weirdos, the icky love stories, the uncomfortable family dynamics, and most especially the freaky food goon squads that just keep pooping up for no reason other than to bend my funny bone. This the story escalation that I was really expecting to see out of volume seven. And Layman manages it, in part, by Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 the series even weirder than it had been before. It's a flashback entirely from Toni's point of view, from just before her death. That was good to see. I really liked her, and I'm glad that Layman gave me one more chance to see her in action. This was a disappointment. The story is always moving and everything happens quickly, without stalling. What an insane book, I love it! Finally, I read Hearthstones by Ruth Rendell. But Luke wants to re-marry. Mary is a wonderful woman but, when she falls to her death, their life changes for the worse. This was a thriller but it did not feel like it. There were some intense moments but the majority was bland. A great disappointment, but at least it was short. My November wrap up. Have you read any of these books? October was a pretty good reading month for me. I got to read some of the books on my TBR and a few others I did not plan. I started off the month by reading the tenth volume of Chew by John Layman. This manga was a disappointment. My sister loved it but it was so boring! Maybe it was because of the way the manga is written. All the problems seemed to have the same conclusion, which made the book predictable and not very exciting. Sadly, I did not enjoy it. I wrote a full review on it that I will post soon so, if you want to know more, keep an eye out for the post! Just know that it has become one of my favorite books of all time. This book is set in the 9th century and follows the life of Uthred since he was a child when, during a battle, he was abducted by the Danes to live amongst them. After that, I read Chicken Tenders which is the 9th volume of Chew. This graphic novel series Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 about Tony Chu, who is a cibopath. I enjoyed this graphic novel but the ending broke my heart! Finally, I started reading Mutedalso on Webtoon. It is about Camille, who was born in the Severin family, however, after the traditional family ritual takes an unnexpected turn, Camille is left wondering if she really is a Severin. This webtoon is fantastic. The art is beautiful and the story keeps you glued to your screen. Most days, I found myself too tired to pick up a book, especially in these last months. Still, I read some outstanding books this year, which I wanted to share with you! I also read Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, which became one of my favorite fantasy books of the year. In this book, magic has disappeared. With its disappearance, the King takes the opportunity to kill all maji, who were left defenseless. This book was a surprise. The characters were well done and the story was well-written. In this book, an astronaut gets stuck in Mars alone. His crew, believing he was dead, left him behind. He has, then, to survive on his own. This was such an outstanding novel. Watney was Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 a unique character, and the way the book was written was brilliant. This book tells Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 story of the crew of the Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 during a long haul through the galaxy. This Chew: Family Recipes Volume 8 portrays exactly what Science Fiction should be.
