Wr. Neudorf, 26. Februar 2009 Presse Information 50 Jahre Honda Racing 1959 - 2009 Mit den Saisonauftaktrennen der WM-Klassen Superbike und Supersport startet am 1. März offiziell die neue Rennsaison. Honda feiert 2009 50 Jahre Honda Racing. Hondas Rennsportengagement startete im Jahre 1959 im Rahmen der Tourist Trophy auf der legendären Isle of Man. 50 Jahre später kann Honda auf eine unvergleichliche Erfolgsbilanz zurückblicken: Königsklasse (MotoGP und 500 cm³): 208 Rennsiege und 14 WM-Titel Superbike WM: 103 Rennsiege und 6 WM-Titel Supersport WM: 64 Rennsiege und 7 WM-Titel 1959 machte Firmengründer Soichiro Honda seine Ankündigung wahr und startete zum ersten Mal bei den TT-Rennen auf der Isle of Man, die damals zur offiziellen WM-Wertung zählten. Bereits im dritten Jahr der Rennteilnahme 1961 siegte Honda unter der Leitung von Teamchef Kiyoshi Kawashima in den Klassen 125 cm³ und 250 cm³ und belegte auf Anhieb in beiden Klassen die ersten fünf Platzierungen. Als Draufgabe sozusagen sicherte sich Honda auch den Fahrer- und den Konstrukteurstitel in diesem Jahr. Wurden die Rennaktivitäten anfänglich noch unter dem Dach der Honda Corporation durchgeführt so erfolgte Anfang der 70er Jahre die Gründung von RSC (Racing Center Service), die sich um Hondas Rennsportengagement kümmerte und betreute. Am 1. September 1982 wurden Hondas Rennsportaktivitäten sowie die Entwicklung und die PR MC0209 1/4 Honda Austria Gesellschaft m.b.H. Freddie Spencer sicherte sich den ersten Zweitaktsieg mit der NS500, der Franzose Cyril Nevue gewann erstmalig die Motorradwertung Paris-Dakar, Eddy Lejeune die Trial-WM und die japanischen Honda-Piloten Shigeo Ijima und Shinji Hagiwara auf CB900F das 8-Stunden-Rennen von Suzuka Ein Jahr später 1983 gewann Freddie Spencer mit der NS500 den ersten 500 cm³ WM-Titel für Honda. 1985 gelang Freddie Spencer das beinah unmöglich Scheinende. Er holte sich in einem Jahr zwei WM-Titel. Sowohl in der 250 cm³ (NSR250) als auch in der 500 cm³ (NSR 500) Klasse sicherte er sich den WM-Titel. Von 1987 an dominierte Honda mit der Zweitakt-Technologie. Der Amerikaner Fred Merkel gewann auf Anhieb den Superbike WM-Titel mit dem V4-Superbike RC30. Mick Doohan, der neue Star im HRC-Team, gewann 1994 mit der NSR500 seinen ersten von insgesamt 5 WM-Titeln in Serie in der 500 cm³ Klasse und dominiert mit den Honda Piloten Alex Criville, Alex Barros, Tadayuki Okada u.a. fortan diese WM-Klasse. Mit der VTR1000SP bringt Honda im Jahr 2000 das erste V2-Superbike auf den Markt. Colin Edwards pilotiert die VTR1000SP auf Platz 1 in der Superbike WM, Toru Ukawa und Daijiro Kato auf Platz 1 im Langstreckenrennen von Suzuka. Im Debütjahr der RC211V 2002, Hondas erstem V5-Motorrad, gewinnt Valentino Rossi den WM-Titel in der neu geschaffenen MotoGP-Klasse. Der Franzose Fabien Foret legt im gleichen Jahr mit dem Sieg des Supersport WM-Titels auf CBR600F Sport den Grundstein für den Gewinn von 7 Supersport WM-Titeln in Serie. Auf die CBR1000RR Fireblade ist in ihrem Debütjahr 2004 Verlass. Das neue Superbike mit Reihenvierzylindermotor siegte mit den Honda-Piloten PR MC0209 2/4 Honda Austria Gesellschaft m.b.H. Hondastraße 1, 2351 Wiener Neudorf Tel. 02236/690-0, Fax 02236/641 30, www.honda.at Toru Ukawa und Hitoyasu Izutsu im 8-Stunden-Langstreckenrennen von Suzuka. Mit dem Sieg von Dani Pedrosas zweitem 250 cm³ WM-Titel in Serie feiert Honda 2005 den 15. Fahrertitel und den 19. Konstrukteurstitel in der 250 cm³ Klasse. 2006 ist das letzte Jahr, in dem die MotoGP-Klasse mit 990 cm³ Motoren gefahren wird. Nicky Hayden gewann im GP von Assen den 200. Rennsieg in der Königsklasse und krönte sich am Ende der Saison zum MotoGP- Weltmeister. Ende 2006 konnte Honda stolze 14 WM-Titel und 17 Konstrukteurstitel in der Königsklasse verbuchen. Takeshi Tsujimura und Shinichi Itoh sichern sich auf CBR1000RR Fireblade den 10. Suzuka- Langstreckensieg in Serie. Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade und James Toseland holten sich 2007 den Superbike WM-Titel. Eine unglaubliche Erfolgsserie nimmt 2008 ihre Fortsetzung. Der Australier Andrew Pitt pilotierte die CBR600RR zum 7. SSP WM-Titel in Serie. Der Ausblick für die kommende Saison 2009 ist viel versprechend. In den seriennahen WM-Klassen Superbike und Supersport ist Honda mit dem langjährigen und erfolgreichen Partner Ten Kate bestens formiert. Das Ten Kate Honda Team tritt in der Supersport-WM mit dem Anspruch an, den 7. SSP WM-Titel erfolgreich zu verteidigen und die unglaublich erscheinende Erfolgsserie seit 2002 zu prolongieren. Mit Titelverteidiger Andrew Pitt, ex- SSP-Weltmeister Kenan Sofuoglu und weiteren 6 Honda Piloten werden äußerst routinierte Fahrer diese Herausforderung annehmen. In der Superbike-WM nehmen der zweifache British-Superbike-Champion Riyuichi Kiyonari sowie die Fahrergrößen Carlos Checa, Jonathan Rea, Tommy Hill, Leon Haslam und Roberto Rolfo die Jagd nach dem Superbike WM-Titel auf. Der Saisonstart erfolgt in wenigen Tagen auf Phillip Island. Der spanische Routinier Dani Pedrosa und sein italienischer Teamkollege Andrea Dovizioso starten für das Repsol Honda Team, um Platz 1 in der PR MC0209 3/4 Honda Austria Gesellschaft m.b.H. Hondastraße 1, 2351 Wiener Neudorf Tel. 02236/690-0, Fax 02236/641 30, www.honda.at MotoGP zu erobern. Alex De Angelis, Toni Elias, Yuki Takahashi und Randy De Puniet werden für die Honda Kundenteams die RC212V pilotieren. Mit der RS250RW gehen 6 Honda Piloten in der 250 cm³ Klasse an den Start. In Hommage an 50 Jahre Honda Racing wurde ein eigener Aufkleber gestaltet, der die CBR1000RR Fireblade in der Renn-Replica Lackierung „HRC Tricolor“ schmückt.
